Pilot events to trial the socially-distanced return of spectators to sporting venues this month and next will include a number of GAA matches.

With crowds now allowed to attend matches for the first time since March, the government has issued guidelines on how sportsgrounds should manage and host the trial events in the risk of Covid-19.

100 fans are permitted to attend sporting events outdoors in the Republic of Ireland from today (Monday), with that figure doubling in grounds which have a minimum accredited capacity of 5,000.

All fans will need a ticket which will record their contact details and be kept for up to 28 days to provide for contact tracing purposes and must wear masks throughout events and be seated and socially-distanced from other fans.

The pilot events will be reviewed with the aim of increasing capacities later this summer.

The Camogie National League finals on Sunday, 20 June will use the guidelines which can be viewed in full here, with a possible pilot of an Allianz Football League final on the same weekend.

The Munster SHC semi-final between Cork and Limerick at Semple Stadium on 3 July and the Connacht SFC semi-final clash of Galway and Roscommon at Dr Hyde Park the next day have also been selected as pilot events.
