Scrap Metal Collection:

The recent ADRSC/St Kierans scrap Saturday and clothes collection was an outstanding success once again. There was great community spirit on display with everyone playing their part in this fundraiser.  Fortunately, Saturday September 26th was a lovely warm sunny day for the task.   It’s a testament to the hard work both committees planning and delivering on the plan for the collections. Devon wood yard was a hive of activity on last Saturday week from when the first tractor and trailer of scrap landed in the yard at 8.55 to well after 6 o’clock that evening when the gate was finally closed. Every make of car, van and tractor brought stuff to the yard throughout the day.
We’d like to particularly thank Paul Mullins for the use of Devon Wood yard for the collection as it’s the ideal depot for us. Thanks to everyone who dropped off metal and clothes and those who contacted us to have stuff collected and the understanding that it couldn’t all be done on the one day.
Great credit it due to all who gave up their Saturday to help out. Deirdre was on covid control duty all day long made made sure all regulations were adhered to in the yard. Pat and Micky kept the scrap metal tidy and once again organised the deliveries methodically. Thanks too to Eoghan, Cathal, Thomas, Padraig, John Lar, Ivan, Owen,  Brendan, Donal, John A and others as well, who were on the highways and byways all around west limerick all day collecting stuff and returning to the yard with loaded trailers. Thanks to all these lads for their time and hard work on the day.
All the scrap metal hasn’t been taken away yet, but it should be gone by the weekend and hopefully everything, scrap metal wise, should be completed by the end of next week.
The clothes collection was a fantastic success too and the proceeds of both fundraisers with be of great benefit to both organisations in these very challenging times. Once again, thanks everyone
