Senior Championship
We wish our senior team good luck next Sat in Carrick as they take on a talented young Fenagh side in the senior championship semi-final. Due to strict Covid-19 regulations, the game must be played without supporters, thankfully both semis will be streamed live.
Ladies Championship
Congratulations to our great ladies who will contest the Intermediate final following a good win over St Mary’s in Cloone on Sunday last. It will be sad if the numbers attending will not be increased but hopefully things will improve in the next few day and we will get to support them in the final. Dromahaire will be the opposition so it promises to be a cracker. Well done Girls.
New Arrival
Congratulations to John and Sarah Farrell on the birth of their little baby boy Darragh a brother for Oisín.
Junior C Championship
On Sunday last our third team played Leitrim Gaels in the Junior C Championship. It was all Leitrim Gaels in the first half and they had a sizeable lead at the break. Mohill made a game of it in the second half and scored 2-5 with scores coming from F Beirne, C Mulligan, J Mulligan, S Kennedy, J Farry, J Cosgrove, S Kennedy. But the young legs of the Gaels were too much for some of our veterans and they were worthy winners in the end. Great to see Darren McLoughlin back playing after a long lay off.
Under 13
These boys had a narrow one point win over Rinn Gaels on Friday last in Gortletteragh. All the boys played well and defended stoutly scorers were: Ryan Gordon 0-5, Frankie McManus 1-2, John Macklin 0-3, Aaron Kiernan 0-1, Kevin McNamara 0-1, Niall McCrann 0-1.
U 15
This age group played a useful challenge with St John’s Carraroe Sligo. Scorers were E Duignan 1-5, C McNamara 0-4, A McGuinness 1-0, A Mulligan 0-2, M Murphy 0-2. Their next game is in Mohill on Tues at 6.30 against MacDiarmada Gaels with the reserves playing at 7.45.
U 17
The Under 17s made their exit last week from football in 2020 when they were beaten by Allen Gaels. They were in line for great things early in the campaign with wins over MacDiarmada Gaels and Allen Gaels but a spate of serious injuries to four influential players left them with a hill to climb. They fulfilled all their fixtures but bowed out on Monday last and. we wish Allen Gaels and St Mary’s the best in the final. We thank Matt Gaffey, John Baxter and Paul Tighe for their hard work with the boys. Some of that team are leaving underage Conor Quinn, Finn Cassells, Domhnaill Duignan, Keoghan Curran, and Conor Macklin will be on Mohill’s adult teams while Aongus McCrann and Gearóid Reynolds will be a great asset to Eslin. Cloone will welcome home Seán Bohan and Brian Donohue. We look forward to seeing them all in action for their clubs.
Recent Death
We extend deepest sympathy to former player Mark McHugh and his little girl Emily on the untimely death of his young wife Tara last week in Meath. Mark won a Junior Championship medal with Mohill in 2003. May she rest in peace.
