Connacht club SFC: Ballintubber set-up Corofin date

November 03, 2019

Ballintubber's Bryan Walsh and Glencar-Manorhamilton's Conor Dolan

Ballintubber (Mayo) 1-11

Glencar-Manorhamilton (Leitrim) 0-9

Ballintubber will face Corofin in the semi-finals of the Connacht club senior football championship after dispatching Glencar-Manorhamilton this afternoon in Castlebar.

Alan Plunkett’s superb second-half goal proved the catalyst for victory for the Mayo champions, who were without county ace Cillian O'Connor, after their Leitrim counterparts had held them for long stages of the first-half.

The score-line read 0-6 to 0-5 in the hosts favour before Plunkett’s rocket shot flew in under the crossbar and from there last year’s beaten finalists would manager their five-point victory expertly, with veteran Alan Dillon steering them into that margin in the closing quarter.

Conor Dolan’s frees kept the visitors in touch but they couldn’t get the goal they required in the closing stages to spring the upset.
