Damien Carter is the new Laois minor hurling manager, taking over from Declan Qualter who spent two years in the role.

The Ballinakill clubman, who recently guided Mountmellick to a surprise county IHC final appearance, had served as a coach / selector under Qualter. Laois enjoyed an extended 2022 campaign in which they reached the Leinster final and the All-Ireland quarter-final group stages where they were eventually knocked out by Clare.

Carter's backroom team includes this year's U16 manager Eddie Downey and Kevin Power.

Meanwhile, Ollie Hally is continuing as U20 manager for a third season and will be assisted by Christy Coughlan, Sean Conroy and last year's minor selector Tadhg Doran.
