Ballyhale Shamrocks powered their way to an eleventh Leinster club senior hurling championship title courtesy of a comfortable 6-23 to 0-14 win over Laois title holders Clough-Ballacolla at Croke Park this afternoon.

Captain Colin Fennelly's scoring prowess proved a problem for the first-time finalists over the hour as the full-forward led by example with 2-1 in the opening period but this was a fantastic team performance from the Kilkenny kingpins. Fennelly's well executed goals arrived in the 21st and 23rd minutes, his side having led by ten points at the break (3-11 to 0-10).

For Clough-Ballacolla, Aidan Corby scored four first-half points but the concession of goals proved their undoing in a free-scoring affair. Young Hurler of the Year Eoin Cody netted first for Ballyhale, and, while Clough-Ballacolla drew level in the 10th minute, Fennelly's two-goal salvo rocked Declan Laffan's side back on their heels.

After needing extra-time to overcome St Rynagh's in Tullamore seven days ago, the back-to-back All-Ireland champions stretched their lead out to eighteen points by the second-half water-break thanks to further goals from Adrian Mullen and Brian Cody as their opponents couldn’t work their way back into contention. Substitute Eoin Reid then put the icing on the cake with the sixth major in the 51st minute.
