Making their first competitive appearance since winning an historic first All-Ireland ladies SFC title three months ago, Meath proved too good for the TG4 Underdogs at the Donaghmore-Ashbourne GAA grounds yesterday.

It wasn't to be for the Underdogs, a team comprised of club players from around the country and managed by Kerry legend Mickey Ned O’Sullivan, former Donegal star Kevin Cassidy and Waterford All-Ireland winner Michelle Ryan, as Eamonn Murray's side ran out convincing 3-18 to 1-2 winners.

Meath were without the Dunboyne contingent, including Player of the Year Vikki Wall and All-Star Emma Duggan, and the experienced Niamh O'Sullivan, but they showed that they still have plenty of firepower in reserve with Emma White, Ciara Smyth and Niamh Gallogly getting their goals.

For the Underdogs, St Paul's, Laois goalkeeper Cassie Dunne pulled off some outstanding saves while, Ballyhaunis' Katelyn O’Sullivan and Chanice Dolan - playing on her home ground - also put their hands up for county selection.
