Increased attendances at sporting events from 6 September

New Covid-19 measures could allow an increased attendance for Mayo's All-Ireland SFC final meeting with Tyrone at Croke Park on Saturday, 11 September.
Outdoor sporting events will be allowed open to 75% of their full capacity from 6 September, only to fully vaccinated people and accompanied minors (U18), Taoiseach Micheál Martin confirmed during his address from Government Buildings this evening. Also, sports stadiums permitting patrons with mixed immunity status can operate at 50%.
For the All-Ireland SHC final clash of Limerick and Cork on 22 August, Croke Park had been allowed to operate at 50% capacity, the equivalent of 40,000 spectators, and it's unlikely that attendance figure will be higher for the football decider as the GAA has no arrangement where people are required to be fully vaccinated in order to attend matches.
