"We'll give everything we have" - Meath ladies boss Murray

A delighted Eamon Murray after Meath's win over Cork in the All Ireland Ladies SFC semi final at Croke Park

Meath ladies manager Eamonn Murray says his team “won’t be overawed” by the occasion when they take on Dublin in this Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC final at Croke Park (throw-in 3.45pm).

The Royal County are set to embark on their first ladies senior All-Ireland final this weekend against a Dublin side seeking their fifth title on the trot.

Speaking to RTE Sport ahead of the derby decider, Murray hopes that 2021 can be the year of the underdog after Meath minor footballers and Tyrone seniors’ victories this past weekend.

"We got a great lift on Saturday with the minor lads winning," said the Cavan native. "It’s the year of the underdog, seeing that Kerry are gone as well, so it could be the year of the underdog; hopefully it will be.

"I presume [Dublin] will be the hottest favourites of all time. We’ll not get nervous … we don’t really do nerves, we just go out there and enjoy it.

"And we’ll not get too upset if we lose. We’ll give everything we have.

"We will have to all peak this weekend to win the game, definitely, yeah, that goes for everyone in the first 20 [minutes], I suppose.

"They can do it, they're in good shape, they're positive and all of that. They won't be overawed at all by it.”
