Prolific Donegal forward Geraldine McLaughlin was the standout performer at the first-ever women’s AFL Europe Combine which took place in Dublin at the weekend.

The Termon sharpshooter trumped the other 12 players on trial in both the 20m sprint (3.22 seconds) and agility test (8.56 seconds). Her kicking skills also impressed former Louth footballer Ciaran Byrne, who played 22 games for Carlton and now oversees the women's Australian Football development programme in Ireland.  

Kerry's Sarah Houlihan, Dublin's Lauren Magee, Meath's Vicki Wall and Roscommon’s Jenny Higgins also impressed, but with the deadline for the 2020 AFLW season already closed, none of them will be plying their trade Down Under until 2021 at the earliest.
