In this year’s Kilkenny SHC, Ballyhale Shamrocks' Michael Fennelly has played 88 minutes, but his manager Henry Shefflin believes the impact he has made in that short space of time has been immense.

The new Offaly senior hurling manager played half an hour against Clara in the quarterfinal, while he started the semi-final win over O’Loughlin Gaels playing for 58 minutes.

It is no coincidence that the defending All-Ireland club champions have improved immensely since Fennelly’s return as at one stage, it looked as if they could be in relegation trouble.

And speaking to the Kilkenny People, Shefflin stated that it is great to have Fennelly’s experience back in the side.

“The work he puts in on and off the field is huge,” said Shefflin. “His strength of mind is remarkable. It was brilliant to have him on the starting team.”

The winners of Sunday’s county final will take on Westmeath champions Clonkill in the Leinster club SHC.
