Former Kildare captain Eamonn Callaghan is in no doubt who should be the county's next senior football manager.
The Lilywhites are on the lookout for a new supremo following Jack O'Connor's surprise departure yesterday. While Anthony Rainbow, Glenn Ryan, Niall Carew and Tom Cribbin have already been mentioned as possible successors to the Kerry man, Callaghan - who brought the curtain down on his 17-year inter-county career last year - believes Davy Burke is the obvious choice.
Since 2018, the 34-year-old Confey man has delivered the All-Ireland U20 crown to Kildare, the Kildare SFC title to Sarsfields and led Wicklow to promotion from Division 4 of the Allianz League. He recently stepped down as Wicklow manager after two seasons and may well relish the opportunity to manage his own county and work with players he is very familiar with.
TweetBe great if we knew someone who was a passionate Kildare Gaa man, Kildare Senior club league and Championship winner, Senior Intercounty experience, and All Ireland U-20 Championship winner. And all in the last 5 years. @KildareGAA #DavyBurke
