Kerins O’Rahilly’s are Kerry club senior football champions for the first time in 20 years after edging a nail-biting final against Templenoe by 0-15 to 0-14 at Fitzgerald Stadium.

Jack Savage kicked the last three points for the victors as they won out by the minimum in the end to claim their seventh ever Bishop Moynihan Cup success.

On a day that saw 2021 champions Austin Stacks relegated at the very same venue, the two finalists served up a cracker in the later game in Killarney as scores from Savage and Cormac Coffey saw O’Rahilly’s carry in a 0-11 to 0-10 lead at the half.

Killian Spillane had registered six first-half points for Templenoe and his seventh would level the game early in the restart prior to Sean Sheehan’s point steering them in front.

Barry John Keane and Savage kept the Tralee men motoring by raising white flags and, with David Moran outstanding around the centre for them, their lead would stand at three with eight minutes to go.

Spillane and Stephen O’Sullivan made it a one-point game in closing stages and the latter’s chance to level it from a 35-metre free was missed, as O’Rahilly’s withstood their opponents last-gasp rally to hang on for the title.
