Kerry's Peter Crowley on water-carrying duty

Peter Crowley is in line to make his first appearance for Kerry in 19 months against Monaghan on Saturday week.

The Kingdom will travel to Monaghan to face Seamus McEnaney's side in their much delayed Allianz League clash, as competitive inter-county action returns after a Covid-19-enforced absence of 215 days.

Crowley had been sidelined by a cruciate ligament injury but returned to training under manager Peter Keane before the break and recently helped his divisional team Mid Kerry to the county SFC final. All-Star midfielder David Moran, who hasn't featured in the county colours this season, is also available ahead of the trip to Inniskeen.

"Peter suffered a cruciate ligament injury last year. We were hoping to have him back in late March, possibly the last two rounds of the league. We were thinking at the time he had been back on the field pre-Covid, just before we broke up," Keane said at the launch of SuperValu's 'Support Where You're From' 2020 GAA Championship in Killarney today.

"He has a good few games under his belt now and his district Mid Kerry got all the way to the county final so he has got a bit of football under his belt. David has had it, we are working towards it with the two of them."

Elsewhere, Keane revealed James O'Donoghue has been back in training following a spell out with injury.

"James got injured in the Galway game and he missed the other three games," he added.

"He has had a bit of rest over lockdown and we are looking forward to getting going again. He has had a few knocks. It's not that he has a lot of knocks but he has got knocks at the wrong time."
