A member of the Kerry senior hurling panel has tested positive for Covid-19.

Speaking on Radio Kerry yesterday evening, Kingdom manager Fintan O’Connor confirmed the news and said that they were “following all the public health instructions to the letter.”

With the inter-county season set to return the weekend after next, Kerry are currently scheduled to play Antrim in the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A final on Sunday, October 18th.

"Like every team in the country we've had a number of brushes with COVID," O'Connor said.

"We've one confirmed case of it in the squad at the moment. Obviously we're following all the public health instructions to the letter. That player hasn't been with the squad for the last twelve days.

"So, it hasn't impinged on anything we're doing training-wise. I'd be hoping that that player will be able to return and play in the league final.

"Without naming names, and I'm not, I think it's better to deal with it as a team. As a group we're trying to follow all of the COVID guidelines and we're getting a lot of help on it."
