St Thomas' stand just 60 minutes away from their fifth Galway senior hurling championship title on the trot after overcoming Sarsfields by 2-19 to 0-15.

The Peterswell powerhouse will be seeking their seventh Callanan Cup success when they face neighbours Loughrea in an intriguing final on 20 November.

Led by county star Conor Cooney, the holders overturned an early 0-4 to 0-9 deficit against the wind with Eanna Burke's late goal securing the win.

In the earlier throw-in at Pearse Stadium, Loughrea made their goals count in a 3-13 to 0-16 victory over Clarinbridge.

Goals either side of the break from Martin McManus were crucial to the outcome.
