Cork blew Galway away this evening with a first-class display in Thurles to collect a first All-Ireland minor hurling championship title since 2001.

It finished 1-23 to 0-12 at Semple Stadium, where the Rebels proved too hot to handle for their opponents as the game was all but dead and buried once David Cremlin hammered in its only goal three minutes into the restart.

Scores from Cremlin, Diarmuid Healy, Mikey Finn (sideline) and William Buckley saw Cork 0-5 to 0-1 up within nine minutes of this decider.

Gunning for their fifth All-Ireland MHC success in-a-row, Galway could only stay in touch through the points of Rory Burke (free) and Michael Power but found themselves 10 adrift as an onslaught ensued from the Leesiders in the run up to half-time.

Cillian Tobin, Jack Leahy, Healy (2) and Buckley finished over points that stormed Cork towards a 0-16 to 0-7 interval lead and, once Cremlin handed the Munster champions the best possible start, there’d be no coming back for the holders.

Leahy (3) and Buckley raised the winners’ tally to 1-22 prior to Healy rounding off the rout in injury-time as Cork recorded their 19th All-Ireland minor hurling championship success.
