Massive congratulations to Laois

After the turmoil down there it's wonderful to bounce back and get a result like this. A convincing victory too. They've been threatening it for years and I'm sure the whole hurling world is delighted for them. Well done to all involved.

Great result for Laois and all counties outside the seeded 10. Laois are now a seeded county. Offaly will start off in the round robin series next year.

Just out of the game. Delighted. Have always said for a small dual county we are punching above our weight

Delighted for Laois. Things have really stepped up in Laois. I remember Wicklow beating them in the 2008 League, though they hammered us in the League Final in Thurles the same year. This result is massive for them no matter what happens against Galway. And didn't they rattle Galway last year... Why not do it again!!

@wicklowman...yes a fantastic win and well deserved!! they are difficult opponents in portlaois as galway and clare have found out the last 2 yrs...take them out of tight small pitch of portlaois and they are a different proposition though imo

Congratulations Queens County. What a Victory. I think the big "cheese" leaving then returning was the winning of this.
Wheres the semi final fixed for?

Would be great if the GAA invested heavily into their underage. They are on the cusp of something big and with the investment like what Dublin got we could get another power house here to stay.

well done to Laois, to be honest you cost me a £2 bet today but well worth it to see another hurling team making good strides. Best of luck in the next round, I'll just keep the money in my pocket next time.

The problem with Offaly is that Brian Whelean is not a good manager , he went for the minor job and got the senior job. I think it's unfair to Laois to say what's going wrong in Offaly . Laois are doing more with their hurling at all levels and that's it simple , you get out what you put in , Offaly are at nothing so they deserve to be where they are. Laois are a good team in Portlaoise ,it would be interesting to see how they play in croke park . The Laois team took some unbelievable scores today ,29 points is remarkable score for a team that only a few weeks ago were beaten by Antrim !

WD Laois. They have been threatening a result like this for a while now.

Any Offaly people know what's going on there? Whelehan has been a disaster. I'm sure he was appointed to try and pass on some of the qualities he showed as a hurler but he doesn't cut it as a manager. Even his interviews come across as unconvincing. Offaly hurling would want act.

I think Offaly hurling is still stuck in a time when you could have a few pints on a Saturday night and win the all Ireland the following day.
But youre right, its Laois' day and fair play to them.

I think for tradition, laois shouñld be as good as offaly, they were very unlucky to lose out when offaly were good back in the eighties, and even the early nineties. The biog difference between them as far as i could see was that there was a lot of problems in Laois due to club rivalries, moreso than offaly (perhaps some laois posters can correct me if Im wrong)

Well done lads! Amazing how a county so small can compete at the top level in both codes... Always had a bit of a soft spot for Laois, my own granny herself is from Abbeyleix!

As ke40 says my own county Antrim beat Laois just a few weeks ago and look where we are now. Well done to Laois, Offaly won't get an easy ride in the qualifying group next year against Westmeath, Kerry and Carlow.

Delighted for Cheddar & for Laois. It's the 1st time since 1972 they've beaten Offaly in the championship.

Congrats to Laois today, you were by far the best team. Sadly all the problems in Offaly hurling came out today. Things have been on the slide for years, personally I think underage was neglected when Offaly were successful, other counties passed us out, and we paid the price.
I'm disappointed as an Offaly supporter, but we need to address the problems, it won't happen overnight. Brian did his best, but after the qualifiers a change is required.
Round robin in 2016,and aim to say in 1B of the league. Not a good day for Offaly folk.
