Really looking forward to the games tomorrow. Any word on whether its a sell-out?

Surprisingly it's still not sold out but if the weather is good the walk up crowd could bring it close to a sell out. If you've left it this late you'll get tickets just don't expect them in the best of positions!

Agree with Muckross. I'd add that if this was a league that every team took seriously then Dublin would win it on the basis of having a better team than the rest. But it's not, it's knockout, and your only as good as your last performance. One lapse and your out now. I think Dublin will perform, I think Monaghan will too and we will get a good game. I expect us to win with or without the verbal nonsense that surrounds this Dublin side.

Why are Monaghan rated higher than some of the Leinster sides? Because they won Ulster last year and gave Donegal a good game this year? No disrespect to Monaghan intended, but some of you seem to have them rated much higher than the Leinster teams, yet it took a bit of luck and extra time to get past Kildare last week, a team that got beaten relatively easily by Meath who in turn got hammered by Dublin

Given the conditions last Saturday ya can hardly judge how good or poor Monaghan or Kildare were...and where was the luck that it took to beat them? We were the better team and we won, end of...and don't forget we've already beaten Meath by 12 points this year

It is interesting that Gavin has selected the same full-forward line for tomorrow as he did for the league final against Derry at the end of April. I know people will quite rightly say league and championship are totally different, but Derry were going well at the time and it was only a few weeks before their championship opener. On the day they got destroyed, there was a huge gulf in terms of ability, physique and speed, with O'Gara completely dominating a very good full-back in McKaigue. Monaghan are probably a better side than that Derry team, but the 15 point defeat flattered Derry that day.

I suspect it's partly because people know Monaghan are the type of team who do not respect reputations and will not be in awe of Dublin - like obviously some of Dublins leinster rivals have become. Monaghan will get stuck in and put it up to Dublin although I still expect Dublin to beat them it will be interesting and nothing like Dublin/Meath. Meath were obviously beaten before they even arrived at Croke Park.

Farney - I fully expect Monaghan to get stuck in and put it up to Dublin but I expected Meath to do the same based on the exact same merits you've given. Now, I'm not taking anything for granted here and teams can have days like Meath did where it all goes terribly wrong (I don't need reminding about the quarter finals of 08 or 09) but on performances so far, Monaghan haven't done too much to make me believe that they're that much better than some of the Leinster teams or that they're genuine contenders.....yet
In any case, before I head off best of luck to ye all the same and here's to hoping we get the hum dinger of a match we all want

most of this monaghan team were well beaten by laois just two years ago . They haven't really played a big gun in croke park , Dublin , mayo , cork , or Kerry . the problem is their physical game will will be a waste of time v Dublin , and then Dublin s quality will show

Yes Dublin are a fine team and yes, going forward, they are great to watch. But how does that translate into them being unbeatable?
The fact of the matter is that we don't really know how good they are since they havent't met a decent team yet who could give them a game. The league is only a warm up & in the championship they have beaten Laois, Wexford & Meath, all poor quality opposition.

Don't get me wrong, Dublin may well turn out to be the greatest team football has ever seen but let's at least wait until late September before throwing in the towel & slinking away.

I would agree 100% with this, We are a very good team defending an AllIreland title with 2 div 1 titles back to back . but this year we are only at quarter finals and nothing is handed out now and like nearly every year in championship its not till the AllIreland final is over can anyone look back digest what they have seen for the year and start then making observations and proclaimations about whether a team was great or not in that year. We expected leinster final to be hard fought for periods it wasn't, Now we expect Saturday to be hard fought and no one really knows how it will go at this moment in time ,we can only speculate ,Monaghan deserve the respect for being here and they could easily cause us a lot of problems , so nothing else is relevant to us bar Saturday.

Just read RTE's preview by Kevin McStay where he describes us as an ageing team. The average age of our panel is actually 24/25. The way he constantly runs down Monaghan is getting very annoying at this stage...

I think Monaghan will go out and have a good go tomorrow, I wouldn't expect them to fold from the word go like we did but they won't beat Dublin, there isn't enough fire power up front to seriously threaten Dublin.

Well seanfinn, I'm calling it now. Dublin to win by ten plus. Monaghan have no idea how good this team are

I agree with you 100% malone. Monaghan don't know how good Dublin are. But neither does anyone else, Dublin included.

Rolling over a few lightweight Leinster teams that were beaten before the game started is no guide to anything.

Are teams now only rated on the basis of their last three games and does 2 Leinsters, 2 League titles and an AI title in the space of 18 months not tell you something about how good a team is?

Not the point I was making joxer.

What I don't understand is the attitude, prevalent only in Leinster, that Dublin are unbeatable. I just haven't seen the evidence that backs this up. I am on record as saying that they are indeed a very fine team, but it is a stretch to go from there to being unbeatable.

Anyway, for the record, I don't regard league titles or provincial titles as being any indicator of greatness. Successive Sams is what allows you don the mantle of greatness.

I thought Monaghan done well last sat to come from behind and they might not have played to their best. But one thing is for sure tomorrow they will be playing in front of the biggest crowd they ever played in front of , Croker will be rocking and I expect Monaghen to put up a massive display tomorrow. After tomorrow night people will think a lot different about This Monaghan team
Would not worry about K McStay or what he says.
