Munster Final ticket fiasco

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Im sure the Munster council weighed up the pros and cons, of staging the Munster final in Cork. But at the end of the day Limerick County Board and more importantly Limerick Team are quiet happy to fulfill the fixture in Cork. Limerick owe Cork the fixture after Cork travelling to Limerick last year. I wonder if Limerick were playing Tipp in the final would they give up there home advantage to hold the final in Semple stadium so the 6000 extra could go, id say not!! Even though they shouldn't fear Tipp there. I seem to remember the 1996 Munster between Tipp and Limerick where the replay was held in Cork not Thurles after the drawn game out in Limerick, why did it suit Limerick then to go Cork,or in 2001 Limerick reached the final and played in Cork against Tipp, On both those occasions Limerick had a very good team with alot of supporters behind them. In 1992 Limerick also played in Cork. All these games could have been played in Thurles to suit a bigger crowd but I think that sharing fixture between the venues is more important than the just getting 5000 extra supporters as the host county dont have that far for that year.

We owe cork a game in cork and we are more than happy to play them their. as long as its a good munster final I'll be happy. pity a lot of people are missing out though.

Do cork people realize that because Limerick are also in the minor final we are entitiled to more tickets then them?
Two best supported counties in munster because of population so should be pakced to the rafter.

Look lads, the game is on in PUC like it or not it would be worse if the game wasn't on TV so lets be honest majority of fans with club memberships will get tickets and so they should. Here's to a good game and a clean win so no excuses from the cork boys this year :)

Also regarding tickets and clubs and stuff. Why should you not start with your club. Why should you not pay your €70 or what ever non playing membership is at your local club and actually be involved in the club to be able to get access to a ticket for inter county matches. think before anyone gets a ticket club members should get first refusal. The are the people who train the kids provide the lifts, cut the grass paint the dressing rooms and attend the club games in god awful weather in in november.

Well said and couldn't agree more, some counties have season tickets and thats another way to ensure tickets. But your way is so much better, in our club we have non-playing members who give a dig-out and some who don't/can't. But well said.

richie - being a member of a club does not guarantee anyone a ticket, unless its a very small club indeed.

Of course you view it from your own selfish point of view - join a club and you will be guaranteed a ticket (only you won't of course.) You do not think anyone's circumstances might be different to your own black and white world.

I am not a member of a club now, but I have supported my local club and Cork in both codes and all grades all of my life. So I am not of course entitled to a ticket (I already have one for the football final; since it was know there would be a low demand, they were on public sale).

I just happen to think that non-GAA members who are supporters should be shown some consideration. The GAA are happy enough to get our support during the leagues, when hosts of people who are now clamoring for championship tickets are just not interested.

I enjoy the league matches, but come championship time, I wonder who the real supporters are. Nothing, of course, will ever change.
