7,742 this evening. Shocking considering there's two Leinster counties.

I really think Croke Park should refrain from using HQ for as much games as possible, Maybe only the final should be played there, excluding games involving Dublin obviously as they always fill it. But i really think while its great as a player to play in Croke Park i think many lads would to go to Castlebar, Thurles or Clones and fill it to 40,000 rather than 30,000, a few seagulls and an echo in Croke Park for a quarter final.

how was there even 7 thousand with only area of the ground open was the middle of the hoganstand yet the lower deck of croker will probably be near full tomorrow and they will say under 30 thousand I wouldnt be surprised.

I don't see any glory in playing in Croker when its bloody empty. In fact I reckon its kind of embarrassing for the players involved if anything.Perhaps for the club its different as we all know its going to be impossible for two club teams to fill Croker but if four county teams produce that turnout I think its a bit cringeworthy.Far better to play them at a smaller venue with a more intimate atmosphere.

33,134 in Croke Park today. A pretty good crowd and hopefully a big crowd for the hurling next week

33,000 in Croke Park today. If we take the Derry-Westmeath crowd out of it we are looking at a crowd of maybe 25,000 for a national final. What makes things worse is that the two teams involved would be two of the best supported teams in Ireland. Can you imagine what the crowd would have been for a Cork Kerry final?

Close to 8000 is a pretty good attendance for the division 3 and division 4 finals. Those matches have absouluetly zero importance and frankly I'd be more interested in an O'Byrne Cup match. They are purely ceremonial as promotion is the thing that metter in the lower divisions. The reason they are played in Croke Park is to give the smaller counties a chance to play in Croker, for that reason those matches should always be played in Croke Park.If you don't play them in Croke Park then they might as well not take place at all.

I'm looking forward to seeing the overall attendance fiogures for the league. I'd say it was up a small bit due to the Dubs playing in Croke Park six times this year compared to 3 times last year.

Its interesting to note that the TG4 viewing figures seem to be up a good bit. According to their weekly viewing figures on their website the figures were rarely, if ever under 100,000 and regulary over 150,000 and breaking 200,000 on numerous occasions.

If you take the probable breakdown on sat night,id say it was around 4k meath 2.5k monaghan 1k offaly and 500 limerick bit of pointless idea to play them in Croke park

A lot of people just won't go anymore for various reasons, including financial. The fact that games are televised live is huge reason as well. Of my regular gang of family and friends who used go to almost every game up to 4/5 years ago - ten of us - only two were actually in Croke Park yesterday. Three of us watched it in pub outside of Dublin over a few drinks and a meal. Sort of getting used to being long distance supporter! And the place was half full with ex-pat Dubs. Great game by the way.

if you take saturday nights games you can look at one way.
from a crowd point of view both games could have been played in portlaoise and breffni park would have had bigger gates but from a players point of view it makes the final something differant for them playing in croker alot of them teams may not get achance in championship to do so.
good crowd yesterday they were expecting 30 thousand it said so 3 thousand up on expectations is always good sign.

33,000 For a national final is poor.

Can the people who are saying the league final attendance was poor please post the attendances of the league finals for the last 20 years or so.I'm pretty sure that league finals that don't involve Dublin rarely break 20000 and that about 5 years ago Kerry played Derry ina league final with an attendance of less than 10000.yesterdays attendance was pretty good and only slightly less than the attendance in 2011

RoyalDunne I though there was the same amount at the final from Meath and Monaghan. They definitely too it more seriously than us by the looks of it.

While 33,000 is not bad, it's not great considering Dublin were playing. Tyrone and Dublin made up the vast majority of the attendance. I'd be in favor of playing all league finals outside of Croke park unless Dublin were involved although some posters have a very valid argument about counties wanting some game time in HQ.

Thought the atmosphere in the 2011 final was far better than it was today, the Hill was very quiet by it's usual standards. Maybe people are just losing interest in the league or maybe it's because Dublin won the all-ireland in 2011 and the Dubs find it hard to get excited about anything less.

Lastly why don't the Dubs do a lap of honor. Bit disrespectful to the fans.

yeah kerry and derry played a league final a few years back along with the division 3 final on the same day both in PARNELL PARK and it was not even full and it held 10 thousand then.
last year there was 22 thousand at the league final and 11 thousand at the semi finals.
this year was 33 thousand at league final and 25 thousand at semi finals,so its up on last years crowd has to be a positive going forward as the league is proving its getting stronger each year and with more marketing it would increase to a higher level.
yes 2011 had slightly more around the 35 thousand im nearly sure it was that day but you had the first year of the spring series and we were getting 35 thousand for most of them spring series games already that year where as this year there was less for the spring series so it did increase for the final.
