Attendances 2013

What was the price of a ticket last night to get in to Wexford Park? I thought with the weather and all, more would have went. Maybe it was too expensive.

Just over 7,000 are in attendance at Wexford Park this evening. What is your opinion of holding the replay in Parnell Park next week? I personally think it is the right decision and there will be a great atmosphere there with around 10,000 at it, I doubt Croker Park would have brought many more to the game....

parnell park only holds 7 thousand capacity now because of health and safety.
i guess the gaa or dubs cannot win as over last two weeks we had culchies complain about dublin playing in croker now when game is fixed for parnell wexford manager complains it should be in croke park haha

10 euro into terrace where as football was 15 euro into terrace
leinster council doing everything they can to bump up hurling crowds it seems.

Did the commentator say Limerick only won 1 game in 17 Munster championship matches? It's incredible they come out in such big numbers with such a poor record.

This is probably as big a game as Wexford will ever get. Hurling in a home Leinster Knock Out match against the Dubs and perfect weather to boot. Even then the stadium isn't full. GAA needs stadiums to have stadiums that are suited to the number of people actually going.

haha yeah 19 thousand thats the biggest they have got in years ,wouldnt say they come out in big numbers as they get poor crowds all the time was good to see them get a decent crowd yesterday as the only game promoted down there is rugby.

i think something has to be done regarding prices otherwise attendances will continue to drop, 60 euro last week for the wife and 2 kids in to croker and that's before transport and food and a few pints before the match, in recessionary times i think thats a little too steep for a leinster quarter final and as someone who would love to get to every match trying to fund that for the semi vs dublin will be a struggle. the gaa should look to lower the prices or perhaps look to staging the games in provincial venues, 15 euro for a terrace ticket in portlaois would have been alot more affordable and near a full house which would make for a better atmosphere

it was 15 euro for a terrace ticket to kildare v offaly and dublin v westmeath double header!!!
in fairness you are complaining about price of tickets for family ,60 euro for all four of you to attend two championship matches is very good value,if you went the aviva last friday night you would have paid that for just yourself.

it's still 15 euro for children's tickets in croker on the hill which still works out at 60 quid. i understand what you're saying but i think it would be handier for me and alot more people if some games were brought to provincial venues as it would cut costs and make for a better atmosphere, the offaly vs kildare game in portlaois last year had a great atmosphere and was almost a full house, in croker last week for the kildare game croker was practically empty and atmosphere was non existent. i know alot of people in kildare who didnt go to the offaly game because they were saving money for the semi final and could not genuinely afford to go to the 2 games, the gaa need to look into cutting prices a little

in all fairness though you said you went to the pub before the match,if you saved the money from having a few pints it would pay for the tickets, its probably easy for me to say as i dont bring kids but i dont go the pub saves alot of money i find

If you check it out Kildare man, kids tickets only a fiver, clubs can do group deals and get kids in for €3, with adults €25, for 2 matches. Same price as Portlaoise last year! Plus last year, how was it a great atmosphere? Twas like shooting fish in a barrell!

But I agree these q finals should be played at provincial venues, (however in fairness, players from counties like Offaly & Westmeath can do with getting a chance to play in Croker, and I cant believe more people from Offaly didnt go as we havnt been their with the footballers since 2007!)

I keep saying it, was closer to 25k plus there yesterday, Hillman it is a well known fact Limerick and Wexford have massive support. I remember early noughties 30k plus in the gaelic grounds for u21 games. Limerick fans almost thrive on our heartbreak, gives us a reason to go out and get warped for the day, ps rememebr we lost to ye in Thurles a few years ago in the Championship and there was only a handful of Dubs. Limerick will have 30k fans at the Munster final.

ye dont have huge support,it was sunny day and playing tipp thats what brought the crowd out.
your county board obviously dont agree with you as next year they are considering moving limericks home matches in football and hurling all out of the gaelic grounds as its costing them too much money to open the ground with only a handfull of supporters going.
there was not only a handfull of dubs in thurles that day, there was as many dubs at it as there was in portlaoise forthe kilkenny game.you know full well the hurlers dont have the same support levels the footballers.its similiar to munster rugby having the big support levels in limerick city.

Trust me limerick have a very strong following. Every county has a fickle following in the in the months of February and March. Championship is Championship. There is a big tradition between Limerick and Tipperary. Those games always draw a crowd. Limerick always travel in big numbers to championship games.

Hill as a complete neutral i think you are being disingenuous about the size of Limerick hurling support. In my view Limerick have big support for the little success they have had. They always to seem to come out in big numbers. It is their footballers i feel sorry for. Even when they were going well the Limerick public did not really take to football apart from the football heartlands back in West Limerick. I have been at a few Limerick matches 1996 to say 2002 in hurling and they had huge crowds. I would go as far and say they are proportionately on balance the best support hurling team in the country followed. I am not just talking numbers here but support through both good and bad times.
