I don't think any other county in Ireland would get a good attendance to a provincial first round against either Limerick or Tipperary. These teams will have to improve big time if the GAA want Munster attendances to improve. Would you say there have been years where one single game in Leinster had more at it than the whole munster football championship?

last years leinster final had more at it then the enitre munster football championship.
leinster final had 69,656
munster championship added up had 43,200

Thank you hill16. What a joke of a championship. Should be merged with connaught who don't fare much better attendance wise.

dont get much attendances so far but limerick gaa wise get no coverage in the city if being honest rugby gets the promotion no matte what and in tipp the hurling is obviously the main game for supporters until their underage success shows a big result in munster it will unfortunatly continue to not draw crowd.the semi finals will bring simliar crowds i would imagine,it will be the final (presuming both big guns get there) that will tell how the munster championship ranks with supporters this year as last year when they met outside of the final it only drew 23,184 to pairc ui chaoimh.id say they will be loking at alot bigger for them playing in the final.

agreed the leinster hurling championship crowds has fallen from the highs of the 90tys alright.
due to kilennys success and the falling away of offaly and wexford crowds have plumetted.be nice to see 10 thousand for wexford v dublin though and simliar for offaly v kilkenny would be a start.

Yeah bizarre, as mentioned above, that the Mayo Galway game had 16,000 "officially". There was no way there were only 16,000 at it, just no way. A totally inaccurate figure

Eh, no. Dubs/Wexford will be full house in Wexford Park, and Tullamore will be near full as well for Cats/Offaly. Galway/Cats final (most like) will be 30,000+.

What would you guess the attendence will be for the double header in Croke Park on Saturday evening?

I would say around the 30,000 mark, perhaps less. Bank holiday weekend; massive fall in interest by Kildare people; small crowd at Mullingar last time, no interest from Offaly, and Dubs not giving Westmeath a chance!

Breffnibest,
My guess would be 40,000ish for Sat.

massive fall in interest by Kildare people;

Where is the evidence for this statement? The Kildare support has always been pretty consistent, in good times and bad.

judging by ticket sales think you will be wrong hurlingdub.
hill a and b sections are already both open and canal end is open already, would say lower deck be full and upper cusack.
id say between 40-50 thousand

Hopefully hill16. Am bringing my daughter to her first game since the "startled earwigs" debacle of 2009. She is returning to the fold :-)

It really annoys me (don't know why but it does) when clearly inaccurate attendances are given out. When a ground has a certain capacity of say 20,000 and it is 3/4 full even allowing for more sqeezing together and an attendance of say 7,000 is given out it really annoys me.

During the league i don't know why they even give out attendances as ok i buy a ticket but my kids just walk on in and they most certaintly are not counted. It would be nice to have proper attendances

i was saying that all year that it was happening, seems to me the only reason they could have to put lower attendances given out would be because of tax saving it must be.
the first night of the league in croker had 29 thousand as given attendance yet the legue semi finals actualy had visibily more of the ground full and was given as 25 thousand haha dont make sense.

She actually considers herself a bit of a crow when it comes to the Dubs Hill16!

That day we went to get a hot dog at half time and am ashamed to say that we then left to see a film about talking hamsters :-(

Hurling dub you are being optimistic with a full house at Wexford Park for the Dub/Wex Leinster q/f. Will be lucky to get 10k.If Galway and KK make the Leinster final will be lucky to get 25k. Novelty already has worn off although i believe the emergence of Dublin has been brillant and us in there good for the province as well. Attendance at recent Galway/Mayo was well in excess of 20k. The official capacity of Pearse Stadium is 34.5k and the stand and sideline was pretty full with a decent sprinkling on one terrace. Mayo had more fans but in fairness not as big a difference as some would make you believe. Sure us Galway folk had little to cheer about.

yeah i would say about 10 thousand for dublin v wexford considering the attendance given in portlaoise last year for dublin v kilkenny was 12 thousand i think.
