I'm not changing much in my recent post. 3x8 with losers in the prov last 8, 4 and 2 entering Qual Rds 2, 3 and 4, respectively. The remaining 1x8 enters Qual Rd 1. This is very neat Qual Rds with quantities of 8, 16, 14 and 10 - so 5 qualifiers join 3 Prov champs in the AI QFs. The Prov championships are left unchanged with these great changes - who would approve these changes ?

09/11/2012 12:12:58 omahant It seens my last comment won the argumeny ? no. your proposal has won the argument. all your proposals do is sound like maths class in school. why not explain them better? why should 1 provincial champion be regarded as less than the other 3?
rtormandbannerman - your reply starts by agreeing with me and changing my mis-spelling - but goes on to criticize as expected. I think a playoff between the Muns and Conn for one AIQF berth seems fair to counter the Prov imbalance, if retained as seems likely. See my recent post, Donegal 7 vs Mayo 5 - so does this spell out better what I am trying to convey, even if you don't support the change ?

I agree with you in that changes should be made to the football championship but disagree completely when you say that some provincial championships are not worth the same as others which is essentially what you are saying when you say munster and connachts champions must play off for 1 all ireland QF place
From the QFs on in Lein and Uls, 1 team out of 8 from each makes the AI QFs and another goes to Qual Rd 4. What's wrong with treating Muns and Conn teams the same - 1 of 8 (4 from each, crowning 2 prov champs after 2 rounds is Incidental) to AI QFs (requies champs playoff) with loser to Qual Rd 4. The Muns and Conn losing prov finalists as well as losing semi-finalists From Lein and Uls go to Qual Rd 3 (all having been beaten after one win, assuming none are nvolved in the opening prov round - can be achieved by Scrapping opening round and having restricted 24 in prov stream And putting Weak 8 alone to Qual Rd 1.
