1273362 Debate after debate avoids the main point of our shortcomings. Our strike force on the inside line is just not good enough to win an All Ireland.
Nor in fact do we have any better.Michaeal Murphys potential brilliance had been signposted since he was under age.

The why leave him one on one in acres of space?. The game had barely started when Martin Carney noted the mismatch & yet 15 minutes into the game it was still there. Donegal could have had this game put to bed in 15 mins had that third goal gone in. The switches were made then but too late.
The point I'm making is that I feel that the game was comprehensively won on the sideline before the ball was even thrown in. Horan took a chance & it backfired big style. Can't blame the players for that.

Lads is it not win by any means possible?? Or is your beef with the Master cause he's so against cynical fouling and cheating and so on? And is always on here giving out about it but now won't admit Mayo do it, is that it?

I have no beef at all with Master, I think he's great. A bit blinkered maybe, but then he would'nt be alone here in that, myself included.

That is exactly the reason clondalkindub, but here is the thing, I never said they dont do it, I said they dont do it any more than the majority of other teams. The only difference between dublin doing it and mayo doing it was down to the actions of the opposition, i.e. when the opponents started going for goals, they stopped it happening. It isnt mayos fault that dublin needed goals with 25 minutes to go. I also pointed out that every mayo player that was supposedly time-wasting was actually replaced, which actually weakens the team and adds on more extra time. How is that helping them in the slightest? If you look back over the game, as I have twice, you will see that.

The mayo 'God bless us and save us' tripe is dreadful!!

Why feel sorry for them...they fouled their way to an AI Final and lost it once a wise ref put a halt to it!

They are just not good enough as footballers to win anything!

Please don't feel sorry for us. We were not good enough on the day. Need O Se as a target man next year with Moran and Conroy around him. This Mayo team has the potential to win an All Ireland and I believe they will. Snuf your comment that they fouled their way to the final is a little childish. These Mayo players will be back for more, I have no doubt about that. So once again, please do not feel sorry for us, we are big boys who will take the medicine and try again.

ah master do you ever stop trying to twist things to suit your argument...your argument in relation to hillsborough was close to pathetic....mayo got what they deserved as they were simply not good enough yet again

having watched the match again id have to say that mayo only for the freak start they could have won that game, if mayos inside forward line was better, even as it was i think they could have won, its just so hard to come back against donegal when they have a lead on you, but if mayo were the ones with a lead i think donegal would have opened up, just like if cork had workrate and hadnt wasted so many chances they 2 would have beaten donegal, alot of people think donegal are unbeatable, but of course they are not however they still deserve to win the all ireland, mayo need to find forwards, it has been their achilles heel for so long, and to call them a soft touch is wrong, this mayo team showed more bottle than iv seen in a team for quite awhile.

I am living in Dublin I train an underage club team here. I support Dublin if and when Mayo are eliminated from the championship (as can be checked by looking at previous posts). The Dublin GAA supporters I have met are the salt of the earth. Indeed after the game v Dublin they were very gracious in defeat and showed great genorisity when engaging with Mayo supporters in the pub afterwards. However this nonsense by a few Dublin supporters about a cynical Mayo after a few tackles in the Semi Final is disappointing. We are one of the cleanest teams you will come accross. Mayo won that game fair and square just as Donegal fully deserved their win last Sunday.

Realdub what was it like being part of the 4 game saga against Meath in 91?

Yes but the mayo full forward line was way off the pace in fairness.I think Cillian O Connor is a passenger from play.Andy moran would have been a huge boost.Without insulting Mayo who are miles ahead of my own county Galway I think it is hard to know whether donegal had to come out of cruise control the last day after the 2 early goals.Defending a lead is Donegals bread and butter and they were handed a 7 point one.

Nothing to do with begrudging…. It's to do with honesty

Certain things deserve to be highlighted. That's been done now....

It's been addressed in the media too... your above comment is a tad bit lazy and I don't know... kind of limp. A tad bit easy…

I mean where would discussion be on this site if it wasn't for people highlighting area's that were previously ignored.

Again it's got nothing to do with begrudgers. It's got to do with highlighting a few home truths...

Mayo used just about every trick in the book... it worked for them.

Do you want me to applaud that? Because I wouldn't do so if a Dublin team acted in such an extreme manner of cynicism. Both before and during the game.

So to be honest my heart doesn't go out to Mayo. It won't go out to any county that acts in such an extreme cynical manner.

And if they continue to play as such... I hope they don't win a thing.

I mean the stats are there. I make no apologies for pointing them out and neither should anyone else.

Trust me if the shoe was on the other foot... well enough said.

Lets those who want to bury their heads in the sand do just that... sometimes you have to be the one to stick your neck out.

Fair play to those that did.

Jimbo, you're one of the more constructive posters on here, Meath won all-irelands in a fashion that didn't please a lot of people but I always admired them for winning, no matter how, Mayo tried and failed, they're no worse than whats gone before. Up to the officials now to stamp out that side of the game, but as Christy Brownes oul lad said, "shut mouth catches no flies" Up the Dubs!!!

Hey, its all well and good being nice!.....Well done everyone!!!

But, lets face facts here!
I remember watching back over the AI Final last year and hearing the comments of O'Rourke before the game when he said: "Kerry come up to Dublin and will pat them on the back and call them great fellahs and then beat them out the gate and head off home....its time now for these Dublin players to make some new history here today and ensure that that doesnt happen!"
The point here being, yes, well done mayo, congratulations again and again and again and again on being such fine upstanding young chaps and all that, but here is yer **** on a plate in a final yet again!....now here is your 'pat on the back' and my heart bleeding for ye!!

Lads on here talk about the comments of keyboard warriors because the truth is being spoken! Do lads on here think it is brilliant and gentlemanly (keyboard gentlemen just the same) of them to show 'Ahh God love ye' to mayo eh??!!

Man up the lot of ye and quit it with the beal bocht carry on!....mayo lost because they are not good enough!!.....(same as Dublin were for 16 years and Donegal have been for 20 years)!!!.....so quit the 'God love ye' rubbish sentimentality talk!!....I had to swallow a little bit of sick when I first seen this thread because I was reading it in public!!

As for the fouling in the semi final!.....Well how can all the sunday game pundits be wrong and show countless clips of it!!....then how well within seconds of the throw-in in the final the ref (pre meditated) blows up for it and issues yellows right away and puts a halt to the mayo 'tactic' and what happens.....2 goals conceeded right away and game over!..................MAYO WERE FOUND OUT!!!!

Man up and quit the plaumausing lads....its a bit sickening!!!

......but if it keeps ye happy then 'mayo I feel so sorry for ye, ye are lovely people and i wish ye were given SAM for free and just allowed to win it'!!!!
Oh no, I think Im gonna puke!!

Regards,
