Should get at least 6 months suspension i reckon. There is no room in the game for that kind of behaviour whiterbannnas (Mayo) - Posts: 2441 - 28/07/2008 11:19:48 58194 Link 0 |

I hope for Clancy's sake that he checked himself into hospital after the game. He has a reputation for being one of the hardest players in the game but a hit like that needs medical treatment. The fact that he played on afterwards....wow....what a hero holymoly (Dublin) - Posts: 757 - 28/07/2008 11:42:30 58234 Link 0 |
Will this red card be overturned in time for Down to play Wexford? Tir_Na_nOg (Antrim) - Posts: 210 - 28/07/2008 11:48:47 58255 Link 0 |
Somebody said here last week that Laois invented diving in 2003. Think Clancy made a meal of it but Gordon was sent off for use of the head (ie a butt) -a total no-no. Funny how this was glossed over last night. Dubinmeath (Dublin) - Posts: 1123 - 28/07/2008 11:51:32 58261 Link 0 |
I totally agree, if thats what our game has come to, then i just dont know, imagine putting yer shoulder up against another fellas, sure thats just crazy, he should know better!!!!!! Superstar (Down) - Posts: 27 - 28/07/2008 11:52:52 58263 Link 0 |
how on earth could the ref not see that there was no contact to clancys face??!! i cant believe it, he was standing right in front of the two of them. well actually no i can believe it because hes been at that in longford for years! clancy should be ashamed of himself PoteenPete (Longford) - Posts: 63 - 28/07/2008 11:56:41 58275 Link 0 |
I would take the 6 or 4 week ban Gordon is going to automatically get and hand it straight to Clancy - it's exactly what he deserves. jmeehan (Monaghan) - Posts: 122 - 28/07/2008 12:13:22 58324 Link 0 |
There'll be no problem here. He'll get the ban completely rescinded. And obviously, this is appropriate cos he did nothing of note. banner_boy (Clare) - Posts: 1285 - 28/07/2008 12:24:18 58352 Link 0 |
If he did nothing wrong then how come the laois lad was left rolling around on the ground in agony? whiterbannnas (Mayo) - Posts: 2441 - 28/07/2008 12:48:39 58420 Link 0 |
As Ross Carr said a quick drink of water and he was back on his feet, Clancy should be ashamed of himself and the ref and the linesman need to take a long hard look at themselves. Referees are destroying our game The Gael (Down) - Posts: 115 - 28/07/2008 13:15:46 58465 Link 0 |
Big Dan should get off, That wasn't even a black card never mind a yellow and was never a red. Fahy over reacted. Down have enough men out without losing Dan too. mugsys_barber (Tyrone) - Posts: 2160 - 28/07/2008 13:18:15 58469 Link 0 |

Not sure where Dublinmeath was sitting, but definately was not watching the game if believes there was a butt. Clancy squared up and in fact he pushed his head to Dan's, however did not butt. Linesman had clear view of this, and the subsequent nudge shoulder to shoulder which had Clancy rolling around. In my opinion he is a disgrace to the game, and his behaviour belongs on the soccer pitches. As the Sunday Game pointed out, the villan was Clancy, and I hope that when the CCCC ask Fahy to review his decision, apart from recinding the unjust and unfair red on Dan, he will see fit to impose the rules and issue a yellow to Clancy. We can beat Wexford, but it would be much harder without the inspirational Dan Gordon. Burnsey (Down) - Posts: 561 - 28/07/2008 13:50:29 58521 Link 0 |

Clancy let himself down and the county during what was the game of the qualifiers thus far. HE should be the one enduring a ban. hope gordans red is over turned. talented footballer. TheTownEnd (Laois) - Posts: 34 - 28/07/2008 14:33:23 58592 Link 0 |
Next time you see the incident watch Goron's head - not his shoulder or elbow! Clancy overreacted but Gordon went to butt him - stupid thing to do and given the way GAA refs are giving yellows seemingly based on 'soccer' fouls then it was no surprise to see a red produced. Same thing happen Clancy against Wexford Clancy gives the big lad Wexford a push big Wexford lad goes down Ref gives Clancy red he takes it like a man serves his month no appeal to cccc or dra or supreme court no save Clancy whinging thread on HS like Galvin,Moran,Doherty and on and on. maybe he's starting to get a bit cute. chainsaw (Laois) - Posts: 712 - 28/07/2008 15:04:25 58684 Link 0 |
