Iv one quick point to make.... JOHN GALVIN MADE A SHOW OF WALSH WHEN HE MARKED HIM IN LIMERICK...IN FACT CORK PUT 4 DIFFERENT FELLAS ON HIM THROUGHOUT THE MATCH AND HE CAME OUT ON TOP ALL THE TIME... HES BETTER THAN ALL THE MIDFIELDERS FROM THE BEST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY...WHY HASNT HE RECEIVED AN ALL-STAR?? SERIOUS QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED...SOME MEDIA WE HAVE

Unfortunately for John, the power of the pen has proved more powerful than the warrior in battle. Limerick or not, Galvin was the stand-out and stand-alone midfielder of championship 2010. A comment was made a few times by posters that he "wasn't great" against Cork this year. John hadn't trained AT ALL in the lead up to that game due to illness...and still he was one of the top 3 players on show in that game. Nobody seems to recognise, let alone acknowledge that everyday that Limerick take to the field, John Galvin is the target for neutralising by opposing teams. Withstanding this, he consistently produces the goods, catching clean ball, carrying ball, providing a link between defence and attack and of course grabbing vital scores. I urge anyone here, and indeed any of the All-star selection committee if reading this, to compare Galvin's situation to any of the other choices for No. 8 or 9. Walsh is not nor can I ever see him being the heartbeat of the Cork team due 1. to his dual committments and 2. the number of other big names in their squad, therefore should never be a focus for rivals to quieten. MD McAuley was not that either this year, he is not that instrumental a figure in the Dublin setup that you would say they would struggle without him playing well. Keenan is the closest to this. It is a fact that in small counties you have big names. The fact that this big name produces the goods regardless of the circumstances, only points more to the need for his achievements to be heralded rather than looked over. John Galvin is a hero in our county. In a year that saw little for the GAA community in Limerick to shout about, the powers that be should have seen the bigger picture. It is extremely disappointing that they didn't. All one can hope is that the decision was an honest one, (even one borne of ignorance i.e. not seeing enough of him, would be digestable) and not one steeped in politics. Cometh the hour, cometh the man...hopefully we will see some recognition for the man in the GPA awards and will continue to see the No. 9 jersey dominating the championship fields in 2011.

I think ye are over-reacting, sure Larry Reilly never won an allstar or Anthony Forde or Jason Reilly and others and they nearly won loads of games too, the same as Galvin.

Limerick just have to go and beat someone and win Munster.

Its harsh but true.

Thats becoz none of them were good enough. galvin was the outstanding midfielder of the championship, better than keenan, who he should have been selcted alongside

In other words, Kildare are only a good team when it suits your arguement!

Whats your take on Dublin then, I presume you recognise they were not 'at their normal standard' on June 27.

Looks its fairly easy to see you dislike Louth football & you are loathe to give any credit to it.

you are 100% wrong about me pundit. kildare were a bad team that day everybody knows it. Dublin were also a bad team on june 27th i agree with you on that. as for your last statement it was a pretty weak effort. if meath were to go out in the first round id support louth over any team. half my family is from louth and they all play football in louth. i have no problem giving louth credit, in fact i gave them plenty when you beat kildare and westmeath.

Wasn't it bad enough for poor John Galvin to be overlooked...yet again, without heaping on the misery altogether by comparing him to footballers from Cavan. Next thing you'll have him eating his dinner out of a drawer!

John Galvin of Limerick

Finally after being over looked for so long John Galvin is recognised for the fantastic footballer he is. I'm sure being recognised by his peers will mean more to him than being recognised by the crowd who pick the All Stars who wouldnt know a great footballer if it bit them.

i agree hes a good player but theres no point crying over it as ciaran whelan was dublins best player for 13 years and in my opinion the best mifielder in the country in his prime he only got 2 allstars in his career and mostly bcoz dubllin never won the all ireland limerick havent even won a munster so i think has always been this way

I can understand Limerick supporters feelin aggrieved bout John Galvin. Rightly so... He is an outstanding player, could not praise the chap enough. I remember watchin him in the Cork V Limerick replay , (was in the bar in Croker after we beat Louth) and people all round the place were remarkin on his talent and skill. Delighted to see him on the GPA team and yes he should have been on the All-Star selection too but in my opinion so should Michael Darragh Mc Auley and a few others , theres always very talented players left out of this teams and it always seems so unfair but I suppose someone has to loose out and regretably it still seems to be a case of who reaches the AI final and not who plays best all championship....Cop on the GAA!!!

This is a very well deserved award for John. Overall I think the GPA team is much more in line with what the general public would pick compared to the All Stars.
The All Stars is usually about the AI finalists, Cork being the exception this year.
