Replying To Throughthemidfieldhewasstormin:  "The definitely look a lot better than the team that got hammered by Raharney the first day. Probably having full access to lads who's clubs are knocked out helps. Still think they'll get an awful hammering from Waterfords 2nd or 3rd team. Looked like they could be a middle of the road senior club team after seeing them beat Oulart who won intermediate in Wexford this year. Even getting to that level is decent going. Maybe playing the all Ireland club champions or the Joe McDonagh winners would make the game more competitive just because of the level intercounty hurling has gone to at Liam McCarthy level in a physical way. Wish them the best of luck, still a great opportunity and experiences for the lads who did it."
They played Oulart's second team for most of the match.

A full Antrim or Kerry hurling team would hammer the underdogs.

They wouldn't keep it pucked out to Ballyhale Shamrocks either.

I am sure of their level yet but I would say a middle of the road senior club team if even that.

They'll be slaughtered by any county side. Be far better idea to have two underdogs teams against each other. A Munster/Connaught team v a Leinster/Ulster team.

I still love the idea of the underdogs but might be a bit dated, the gap between club and intercounty has gotten so much bigger, even though the Profesional levels at a good senior club level are on par with intercounty 10 years ago, it's just senior inter County has gone to unprecedented levels, Profesional in all but name really. The last time th underdogs was played the gap wasn't as big and probably had a higher standard of applicants, any lad who thinks he's close to a county panel is probably going to be a leading figure in his club and knows his performance with the club will carry more weight.

Agree but in theory if the interest was there the Underdogs could have picked a team of intercounty players from Joe MacDonagh, Christy Ring etc. ?? I think it's just hurlers have played at "Liam McCarthy Cup level" are excluded?

That would rule out any Antrim, Kerry, Laois or Westmeath inter county hurlers as they have all in recent years to the best of my knowledge played in the Liam McCarthy preliminary's.

I would safely say the 5 best hurlers picked from the 6 Joe McDonagh teams would beat Waterford or Cork.

Sure Antrim alone done well against Cork for 40mins last year.

Just watched the game. The backs were overwhelmed by the speed of Waterford, also coughed up possession too many times trying to short pass the ball out that turned over to easy scores and let Waterford run away with it in first half. The dive by the Waterford center back to get Rob Odonnell sent off was one of the worst I've seen in gaa. Meath keeper pulled off some amazing saves
