Is it against the rule to shake the posts?"
Rule 4.19: To interfere with a player taking a free kick or side-line kick by jumping up and down, waving hands, or any other physical or verbal interference considered by the referee to be aimed at distracting the player taking the kick. A player holding his hands upright shall not constitute an interference.

Seems to me that grabbing the actual goal posts and shaking them definitely falls under the "physical... interference considered by the referee to be aimed at distracting the player taking the kick" proviso. And when you stop to think about it, it just makes sense. Can you imagine a goalie in any other sport trying to physically move the goals during a free/penalty shot and getting away with it? I mean, it would be great craic to watch them try, but definitely not allowed.

If we let our tribal team affiliations get the better of us and label opposing players actions as despicable or players as thugs or scum etc it's just a race to the bottom. Funny I never see posters calling out their own players actions as despicable etc"
That's an excellent point. Watching the hurling final Hawkeye over-ruled the umpires to show a shot was actually on target. Then the camera flashed to the umpire who was a rotund, and merry looking gentleman well into his golden years, and it occured to me that this is exactly why I love the GAA. Well done Hawk eye for getting it right, but play-on that aging gentleman, and long may he grace the sideline!

Yeah it does. But then, plenty of players shout at players taking frees. It is hard to police everything and don't soccer keepers shake the crossbar etc when a penalty being taken?
To me, its all much ado about nothing.

What do you mean nothing to loo forward to - three/four months of Club football and hurling action to look forward to. This is where the real Gaels come alive. not just the bandwagon hoppers that only turn up to look for a ticket to an all ireland final and are never seen in a pitch for 11 other months of the year. the same people who rarely go to a match and complain when a game is only on sky. cos they might have to go to a pub to watch it. The GAA tries to plan its year for the people who play and really support its games. not the vocal few that moan about everything.

Our league is near over with all games on a Friday night. We can have club football and youth football any day of the week but county is the only show in town not Garth Brooks.
