Replying To Past hurler:  "I am still not convinced Kildare are way stronger.

They are making progress at underage and club hurling but it remains to be seen can they survive in the Joe McDonagh cup playing the Kerrys, Antrims and Offalys.

5 years ago they were able to best Westmeath in the league and finish 3rd in 2a.

This year they lost at home to Meath who are gone septic and kildare finished 2nd last in 2a.

I like Kildare but the step up from Christy Ring to McDonagh is bigger than people think."
That was without the Naas cohort who make up a large portion of the team, in fairness

Considering the year before the Kerry hammering Kildare were Ring cup winners beating Kerry in the final - I wouldn't read anything much into one result years ago.

Kildare were competitive in the McDonagh last year and would be this year as well. There's a lot of good work being done in the county and it's starting to pay dividends.

What's the story with this? The article does not give too much information. Who and why did they do it? Was it trying to be cheeky or a honest mistake. I'm just amazed this happens at intercounty level."
It's quite odd. Did Monaghan have any "import" players? Other than that I don't know how a player would be considered ineligible."]As a Leitrimer I'm obviously happy that this gives us more breathing room at the business end of the table. But the execution of the punishment (I.e. simply declaring no result) isn't fair. Imagine a team has a one point advantage ahead of their opponents whom they play in the last round. They could play an excellent but ineligible player, safe in the knowledge that if it works out and they win and have a 3 point lead at the end of the group stage and then get caught, then they'll still have that one point leafvat the top of the table, rather than playing without the excellent but illegal player and actually losing the match.

Coreect. My son plays foitball in Kildare and his club started hurling from scratch 5 years ago. Its not taken off like a rocket.

Kildare will go far.

Replying To Greengrass:  "Serious beatings are being handed out in each of the respective tiers. If all the results from all tiers were collated it would tell you that 21 matches in the hurling championship this season have been won by margins of 15 points or more."
Which shows tiers doesn't stop hammerings. I'd wonder will some journalists and pundits ever realise that when talking about hammerings in football?

After a very difficult 2021 it's good that our hurlers are finishing the season with a Croke Park final with the opportunity to win a 2nd trophy this year. Unlucky not to be promoted in the league (daft format whereby the top two didn't reach the final).

It was spotted by an opposition manager.

Wouldn't blame the player as he wouldn't have known the rule. It's a big slip up by the county board.

Best of luck to the Mayo hurlers tomorrow. Rank 10/1 outsiders…but I'm gonna head up and support them anyway. A win would be an unbelievable lift for Mayo hurling.
