Just the four in row mind, bad luck Patrick. ;)

Replying To Stmunnsriver:  "well said , could not agree more, spillane the modst over rated footballer in history, was ahead of his time with fitness and movement but now that all backs would match that they would not give him a kick of it, he was never brave and he would not go near most of the top wing backs now"
History will tell you different. As a Tyrone man, I'll say Spillane talks more sense than most people. As for backs, how many backs nowadays win their own ball , backs nowadays mark space not players. Spillane would fit in to this era as well as any other.

As Kerryman I take very little notice of what Pat says. Pat was one brilliant footballer but as a pundit he is very poor. Entertaining yes but very very poor. It is his own opinion so it does nt mean effall. I did nt see the list but Pat always goes by the moment and forgets in a few months what he originally stated. When Pat says a team have no hope back them.

Replying To galwayfball:  "If you watch every Galway game there's no way shane walsh is making that list before Sean Kelly.

Pat is judging these players on 20mins of games he happens to have watched."
Sean Kelly is a fine footballer. But if you think he's better than Shane Walsh, maybe it's time to get your eyes tested.

Replying To Lockjaw:  "Yeah true. Like he picked McBrearty in his top 30, and actually justified it with the winning point Paddy scored against Derry. Great score granted - but McKaigue had him in his pocket for that whole match.

RTE would be far better off with a whole new younger set of pundits. Guys who have recently retired."
Totally agree. The BBC and ITV retire their pundits after a certain amount of years. RTE have done so with the soccer and rugby pundits but not the GAA ones.

And anyway - what can the likes of Colm O'Rourke and Pat Spillane say today that they haven't said in the last 30 years ....

Will ya stop. Sean Kelly is super, massive engine but Shane Walsh has it all, both feet, lightning pace, a pure baller, just part of a very poorly managed Galway team otherwise he'd have all stars and maybe more. Walsh would be a key man on any team in the country, he lacks support and a manager with a modern coaching / prep mindset. Unfulfilled potential.

Replying To BaldyBadger:  "He actually said the list was not based on form but his opinion on the best footballers over the last couple of years."
He would have a point if it was based on form. Based on form then Stephen Coen is on the list on merit. He was one of Mayos most consistent players all year and after Keegan was probably the best performer in the final when not too many others showed up.

Pull your bed out from the wall and get out the other side an odd time.

That's bad all right and you can throw Tom O'Sullivan in there as well, for me Tom is the best man marker in the country.

Tom is a great man marker alright, but I wouldn't put him in the same bracket as McGeary, Sludden, Hampsey or Meyler from Tyrone. Those lads can get up and down the field at the rate of knots, all day long. Perhaps it's due to the way Kerry set up, but while I recognize TOS as a tight man marker, I have yet to see the same engine in him, as those 4 Tyrone lads. And that's no slight on Tom!

Iv seen it plenty, Tom is serious going forward but the main job of a defender is to defend.

Pat says his top 30 are based on players performances over the last few years. Thats fine but then you have to ask how did Paudie Clifford get in there ? Good player alright but only one year playing Co football.
