Replying To foreveryoung:  "But I'm not talking about a whole team, just one woman being good enough to fit into a men's team. And Vikki, I believe is good enough for the Meath men's team.

Btw, our ladies soccer team is sheer class. We've lost a few to retirement recently, but have some awesome talents coming through. It's just a shame that our men's team cannot get up to the same level!"
so you reckon that when John Small flattens her with a shoulder, she'd shrug it off and carry on?

IMO, she's better than any forward on the Meath man's team. McEntee should contact her… which prompts my question: if a woman is good enough (thinking of the AIs Mayo men could have won if they'd played Cora Staunton), and if she wants to, is she allowed play in the men's game?

Or is there complete segregation?"
Get Real.

Think this thread started out somewhat silly, and has gotten sillier as it went on.

How seriously anybody was taking a soccer game (or "scrimmage") in Dallas a few years ago is surely a side issue at best. And realistically, the chances of a woman playing men's inter-county football are as remote as me playing county football myself, at nearly 50 years of age.

Anyway, another example of the difference between men's and women's games (you probably won't find this online anywhere, so you'll just have to trust me on it) -

About 10 years ago, when Wexford were winning All-Ireland senior camogie titles, there was a charity match played between what was the current camogie team and the men's All-Ireland hurling winning team of 1996.

The camogie team had several current All Stars and a Player of the Year. The men were by then aged in their late 30s, 40s, and even early 50s in some cases. Just about all had retired from playing the game at all.

The game wasn't exactly serious and there was no real physical tackling, but still, the men completely outplayed the women. And while it ended up in a draw, that was only because the men basically stopped playing for the last few minutes, to let the women get the scores they needed.

I know that was hurling/camogie and we're talking football here, but still, it shows the difference between the two.

Let's just agree that Meath and Vikky Wall had a great year in ladies football, and leave it at that.

It's imperative to state that this 'game' between the USWNT and Dallas boys was not really a game at all. Before the official post was blocked it was described as a 'scrimmage' between the two squads, an informal practice.

And, with an actual game against Russia to follow, none of the female players would in their right mind have played like it was a real contest.

They lost a match.

Do you seriously think Limerick would lose even a light hearted practise match to the Tipp minors?

At what level of male boxing do you think Katie Taylor would be competitive at?

It's just down to biological facts. Something maybe people choose to ignore in these mad times, but they remain as valid as they've always been."

Do you seriously think a bunch of 15 year old boys would beat a top professional women's team?"]What about this one from earlier this year so?

On Vikki Wall - a shining light in this year's championship for a top side. Is rightly getting all the plaudits now however to suggest se is good enough for Andy McEntee's squad is just so far off the mark.

I know you probably have ulterior motives not wanting St. Rapinoe of the Woke to be shown up for what she is, but them's the facts.

Now if you were to make an argument based on Rachael Blackmore or Holly Doyle or Bryony Frost competing equally and indeed surpassing most males in a real sport then you'd have a case.
