New York Out Of Proposal B?

(Oldest Posts First)

I haven't seen New York mentioned in any of the mock proposal B groupings. As they have not competed in the league in years does anyone know if this means they will no longer participate in the championship?

I can't imagine they would be to be honest. They'd probably still keep their place in the Connacht championship?

This is the main reason why Connacht will be against this. The big paydays in New York may be at an end

They would be in the Tailteann Cup, was wondering the same but it was explained on a video the GPA released about the different structures.

You would imagine so, unless the GAA do a U turn or the usual bending of the rules.
Massive injustice to New York if it happens especially as they are now producing so many home bred players as we have seen at Feile & C'ship level over the last few years.
Overseas Delegates will have a role to play at Congress on the voting of these motions.

Could be wrong, but hasn't it been the case in the past that New York are somewhat....let's say reluctant...to play games in Ireland, because of certain US immigration irregularities that might be affecting some of their players?

That basically, if these players travelled to Ireland to play a match, they might not be allowed back into the States again when they attempt to return?

They were great weekends for us fans. Looks like it's all over. Brining to stop Connacht teams going out for fundraiser weekends in the off season. The huge diaspora out there is a great benefit.

NY chairperson spoke on the long haul podcast earlier this year where she basically said we don't want the Connacht teams coming out anymore sucking funds from NY GAA which is fair enough.

Thanks for all the replies. Pikeman this was an issue I'd say up until about ten years ago. Recent managers have been asking to be let into the qualifiers as recent teams including American born and legal immigration status players would not have any issue traveling

14 teams from Divisions 3 and 4 will enter the Tailteann Cup with New York. The Division 3 runners-up will get a bye from the first round.

Pity about them!
Aren't they going to play in the Tailteann Cup?
The draw can't be made till Divisions 3 and 4 are finished so they'll have to play in Ireland.

Good to hear that the immigration concerns aren't really concerns any longer. All I knew for sure was that NY don't actually play games in Ireland, and that the immigration thing was a bit of a factor in the past.
