Tailteann Cup In Doubt

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Tailteann Cup winners should get a all ireland quarter final place that would be a deciding factor in my view. If there is anyone that goes to congress that needs to be debated . there is alot of counties against 2nd tiered competition would they be in favour of a quarter final place

Totally agree. Let it feed into the main event. Otherwise it will be viewed as a Mickey Mouse sideshow.

The quarter final place for the winners is a great suggestion and only way it would work.

It doesn't work in a practical way though because the Tailteann final would then have to be played about 6 weeks before the All-Ireland final.
It's like the suggestion McGeeney and McConville had on the radio recently to play the Tailteann final as the opening match before the All-Ireland final - I am sure they wouldn't have been too pleased if 40k fans from Derry and Offaly (or 2 other teams in a Tailteann final) were in Croke Park in 2002 the day Armagh beat Kerry.
