Return To Play ?

(Oldest Posts First)

I'm not trying to downplay the seriousness of the Illness or trivialize the very sad toll of people who have passed away from Covid related issues ....I was just wondering if anyone has any facts, figures or projections we should be looking out for in relation to a possible return of GAA activity ?

Realise it's a difficult question to answer at this moment....

I'm thinking nothing will happen untill after schools are fully open ?

Is there an actual figure for daily case numbers that allows a return or is it down to the current "level number " we are at ?

If so what case numbers/level can training in small groups return ?.... and also what case numbers/level applies to Club and Inter Couty matches ?

There wont and cant be a number of daily cases that will see a return to play. It has to be a trend that see's cases continuously going down as well as more people being vaccinated as well as numerous other factors.

Yeah, I wouldn't say there will be a return to play until the vaccine roll out has all vulnerable age groups and people vaccinated.
First priority now is getting schools open again.

The fact that the current strain is so transmissable is another factor.
Like Britain currently, when there is a chink of light at the end of the tunnel pressure mounts through questioning when will lockdown etc change. That is perfectly understandable but I think we need to make sure that this lockdown with its restrictions is the last one.
A well known politician got fierce abuse when he put forward the notion of people NOT travelling home for Christmas !!! He had a point and the government was under enormous pressure to open shops hospitality etc but look at the effect of that ! Hospitals absolutely full to the brim and their staff under extraordinary pressure.
I really believe that we owe it to the medical staff not to chance bringing that pressure on them again.
Let's encourage all and sundry to take the vaccine when it comes to our turn and that will speed up a return to all that we are looking forward to.
I do not think it's all about the number of cases but the numbers vaccinated and with their second dose if that is what is required.
