Would have to fancy Clonkill again. Strongest panel of any team. The Gaels would be next then, from what i seen last year they look best place to mount a challenge. C.T.G. after that. Hard to call Raharney, they were so poor last year.

I'd have Castletown as seconds to clonkill they ran them very close in the final and were unfortunate enough to lose that & only that clonkill could bring on Niall Mitchell is what swung it for them that day.
Will be interesting to see how Raharney react to the horrors of last year .. I wonder will killian Doyle be home.

Gaels will never mount a challenge and win a championship, it's between the big 3 as usual, would say ctg, clonkill and raharney in that order

Ah clonkill have to carry the favorite tag no matter what. Going for four in a row this year and still have the same panel of players they had last year. Hard to know how raharney will actually go.

Have to admire the optimism of the person who reckons the Gaels are second best team in the county. I'd put them at fourth if not fifth based on results and underage prospects coming through.

I am only going on what I seen last year and I was very impressed with them. They have the best young forward in the county and if management let go of some of the dead-wood they have then they will be close.

The best young forward in Shane Williams not forwards. They don't have that many young talented players coming through and I'd say the likes of Raharney or clonkill Have more.

Yeah they do the best young forward in Shane Williams but no matter how good he is he is not going to win them a championship on his own & bar him LLG don't have much more talent coming through. Don't know how your going on what you seen last year when clearly Both clonkill &Castletown were better than them Throughout the championship & id be sure Raharney will be back this year stronger than ever & the gaels will be back as the 4th best team In Westmeath.

Agree about young Williams but over the last 5 years those Na Piarsaigh underage teams were in most cases 65/35 Turin lads. The Gaels don't have big numbers coming behind him.

Eoin Daly is another talented young forward the Gaels have, he struggled with injury last year. They dont have anyone from the county minor team gone by, as far as I know the good Na Piarsaigh players in that age group are from Turin. Castletown have last years winning minor team coming up, and they will be favourites to win the minor again this year. They will keep getting stronger. Raharney with Killian Doyle are always in with a shout as well.

In senior B, Delvin should be comfortable. They will have too much class for the teams around them with the Alan Cox, Darragh Clinton, Josh Coll and Adam and Dean Ennis.

Not really much more to add here. Clonkill are favourites for me but they will begin struggle if some key veteran players are unavailable or decide to hang up the boots. Castletown are absolutely capable of challenging and Raharney have dropped off the boil but may be hurting from last year.

The Gales and Pollard still possess the ability to spring a surprise at some point. However they generally get found out before the "big three" get their act together at the business end of the c'ship. The Wood have consistently been dogged over the last few years which has seen them all the way back to senior. Unfortunately the are once again out of their depth. A quick return to Senior B and some significant trimmings are to be expected. The gap from Senior to B/intermediate is still a chasm.

If Delvin prepare for Senior B seriously they'll be straight back up, otherwise they risk getting drawn into attritional physical battles and I don't think this suits them. Including the Wood with the Senior B teams, I don't see anyone other than Delvin having the potential to retain full senior status over a few years. In the current format it's probably going to be a succession of yo-yo teams.

That's fair analysis and hard to argue with. Na Piarsaigh but especially the Turin contingent have certainly been prominent with county underage teams recently and had Danny McCartan and Sean Leech as key players on county minor hurlers this year. The only other starter from Na Piarsaigh was David Williams.

Very unfair to be building up a young player like this.
Let him develop and enjoy his hurling

David Aughey, Sean Leech, Danny McCartan, Jack Geoghegan all Turin. Only Kevin Hogan and David Williams are with the Gaels
