15 Dublin All-Stars?

(Oldest Posts First)

Last year, Liam Hayes was outraged that Dublin didn't get a clean sweep of awards:

Can only imagine how's he's feeling this year.

Do you think Paddy Small was better than Cillian O'connor?

Individually a whole host of the Dublin starting 15 are nowhere near the best player in their position in the country. They are protected by the system in which they play as their reputations are enhanced because of the support cast around them. Why should they get an all star for playing a supporting role in the best team/squad and the best drilled system in the country?

The all stars should be abolished for this reason alone as times have changed. Lots of the bigger teams that will make up the majority of the team are well funded and have their own trip away as a team. This didn't happen when the all stars began. Its an outdated system and its a waste of money and time. Why not invest all the money associated with the whole all stars farce back into the game at grass roots? It's impossible to pick a team of All Stars if not every team in the country plays the same number of games and gets the same media exposure. Basically its a farce.
