All Ireland Man Of The Match

(Oldest Posts First)

Great to see the MOM being given with little fuss directly after the match. RTE always try to make way too big of a deal about it each All Ireland just because it's in their gift at the after match dinner but couldn't do it this year. After all this is a team sport. Now the are trying to go same with the 'Team of the Year'. And as usual Marty Morrissey was painful to listen to.
Well done Limerick but Waterford have lots to be proud of.

jesus do people want the fun taken out of everything?
you have just got man of the match on hurlings biggest day.
why not make a big deal of it and get a roar off a room full of those nearest and dearest to the player?
it must be a huge honour.i for 1 love it and think it is great the way it is presented.

Sure why even bother with a man of the match, its a team game, yeah?
The MOTM being presented is the culmination of years of hard work and effort by the player, club and family of the individual.
I don't see the problem with him getting a rousing reception in the team hotel. I think people want the game to become like US Sports where everything is so separated from the man on the street.
Maybe just like the MVP in the Superbowl goes to Disney Land we should send the MOTM to Tayto Park?

delighted for Hegarty, a chip off the old block, his father was a massive player so unfortunate in 94 (against us Offaly)..not to win a medal, he played in forwards to for a spell and was some player...one player who had a massive game yesterday for Limerick was Kyle Hayes, jaysus he was awesome and could well have picked up the MOM had others not fired points left right and centre elsewhere....as Hayes was a star underage centre back, I wonder is his moving back to half back line preparing him for CB in a couple of years and maybe Hannon move back to full back...Mike Casey and one or two others may be back looking for their places...loads of under age talent on their original 2018 panel, interesting to see if any of them come back into the fold again...I post it below (2018 start of season squad)
