I personally wasn't in favour of the Championship going ahead this year.
But with the AI Hurling semi-finals last weekend and the upcoming football semi-finals
It's been inspiring to watch the commitment and determination to play on through the current mess, all against the back drop of willingly putting themselves at risk. It's made all the more impressive considering the level of skill on show even with the heavier pitches and bad weather.
It may actually go down as one of the great Championships for truly demonstrating all that is good about the games.
The standout stories like Cork, Tipp, Cavan and Waterford have been hugely entertaining.
The 100th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday made all the more relevant with the games going ahead. Then to see the makeup of the two semi-finals off the back of it.. you couldn't make it up! No one saw such a thing coming.
Every team deserves equal admiration for their commitment while putting themselves and their families at risk, just look at what happened to Sligo as an example, I know there were other counties impacted too.
As I said I wasn't in favour of the games going ahead, but I'm willing to say I was very much wrong, there is little doubt that through the combined efforts of everyone involved, that it's gone a long way to help people that needed a boost.
I hope all involved continue to have good health and hopefully there's more good to come from it all.

Absolutely.its been a fantastic championship in both codes.It has taken our minds of lockdowns and viruses and given us something to look forward to and to talk about.The Hurling. Wow the magic of Joe Canning and his sideline cuts.The power of Limerick.T.J reid Richie Hogan v Galway.Tipp v Galway.The excitement of Waterford and Austin Gleeson and Tadhg De Burca.The football the lows of Sligo having to bow out but the highs of Cork s late drama (not so high for I or my fellow countymen) Cavans great run Dubs flair and for me so far Tipperary s munster title win and the emotion for the likes of Quinlivan Conor Swweney and Colin O Riordan.its been strange with no crowds etc but the entertainment has been fantastic and thank you to all involved.We all have different opinions we all support different teams but we have one common love amongst us all-our love of gaelic games.

Well said jimbo. I've definitely felt this winter has flown by and I attribute that solely to having games to look forward to in each code every weekend. Each county that has contributed can feel immensely proud of their efforts in lifting the gloom for so many. No doubt there are still a few really exciting games to look forward to, and that will bring us into Christmas week. You could not ask for more.
Obviously I was really disappointed with how the Ulster final went from a Donegal point of view. It would have been fantastic to have a crack at the Dubs to look forward to this weekend. Despite our disappointment, it was tempered by the fact that each member of that panel, management, background team etc went above and beyond to make sure they represented us proudly over the last couple of months in extremely trying circumstances. That cannot be forgotten.

I think you genuinely felt you could really test Dublin. I agree, Dublin completely untested under Dessie and let's see what Cavan can bring. I just think Donegal would have had more muscle memory but let's see..

Went toe for toe with an inform Kerry side in 2019
But listen it's coming for yiz and 2020 is a very different Championship, yes someone will lift Sam but there's a lot more to this particular championship than that.
You have every right to take pride from Donegal's effort

It's great to have the games and it's proved to be the right decision to proceed with the championship.
Jumbodub - Dont forget those of us involved in the clubs...we all played earlier this year, trained hard and provided entertainment...the inter county lads gets the plaudits and headlines but thousands of players all around Ireland also put in the same effort from players, management, officials and volunteers.
Most clubs also looked after vulnerable in their community delivering groceries and checking in on people which was probably the most important task undertaken.

The GAA takes a hammering a few times a year over different things but as you say, the work done in communities up and down the country was outstanding.
I know that after a few club finals celebrations got out of hand and people pointed the finger of blame at the GAA. I found that ridiculous. The blame for that should solely have been attributed to the big elephant in the room - Ireland's attitude to drink. But that's another story.

It was the right decision to go ahead with the games.
Perhaps it will refocus minds that a ridiculously long pre season of heavy training sessions need to be scrapped.
The huge amount of shouting which now can be heard properly from the sidelines especially in hurling is baffling really. It doesn't serve much of a purpose.
Without a crowd the dullness of rte's coverage has been glaringly exposed. They need a few retirements there pronto, among commentators, presenters and pundits.
