The matches on sky have added the fake crowd noise to the games they're showing live. RTE have not.

I must say personally I'm a big fan of the crowd noise. Its adds to atmosphere within the living room as your sitting down with the family to watch a game. IMO you almost forget there is no one at the games.

What's peoples views on this? Yay or Nay?

I don't mind either way to be honest. I'd probably ere slightly on the side of having the crowd noise but I know a lot of people dislike it.

I watched Donegal v Tyrone on BBC and both benches made plenty of noise to be fair!

I don't really mind either way to be honest but if I was forced to give an answer I'd say nay, it's better craic hearing the fs and js from the bench than artificial FIFA noises.

I do find it a bit cringy though when the artificial crowds start singing, I briefly flicked over to the Liverpool game this weekend only to hear you'll never walk alone blasting out from an empty stadium.

Last thing we need now is to hear chants of come on you boys in blue from an empty hill 16! :-)

Kinda liked the Ireland France game where it wasn't a loud reactionary noise but they did have the background mumble that a large crowd makes.

Hurling is too quick for the Premier League type

Well i watched the Dublin v Laois game last week on sky and i can tell you there was no chants or ay of that stuff. It is not the fifa noises they use in the Premier League games. The noises have been taken from actual hurling matches. Its basically just a background sort of mumbled noise. I think it works well.

Sky considered the GAA and used a background noise that was subtle and ended up being a background noise. It wasn't the same reaction noise they use for their soccer coverage; it worked well I thought. Sky's overall coverage at the weekend was excellent; I watched Sky, BBC and RTE over the weekend; we do team of the week; if we did programming of the week; Sky won hands down; slick operation.

I'm surprised at the amount who enjoy the crowd noises - and each to their own, but I think the whole concept is ridiculous. The thing I love about the GAA is how real it is. The players are genuinely passionate about their teams, the teams are driven by volunteers and genuine GAA people, and generally the pundits and journalists call it how they see it. Why would you want to go tampering with the frankness of it and putting in silly sound effects? You may as well go and script the games and get players to act it out.

Also, it's really interesting getting a chance to hear most of what's being shouted during games for a change. It's a great insight into what's going on with management etc.

I find the silence of an empty stadium more jarring than artificial background noise. Think the crowd noise that's been used for the Gaelic Football has been much more subtle than what's heard in Premier League. I think they did a good job.

Certain commentators will no doubt be delighted to rise to the challenge of blocking out 'earthy language' from players and staff by filling every second with the sound of their own voice. Anyway, I thought there was already what's known as broadcast delay or profanity delay when broadcasting live material. Or is that just %#^*# ?

I prefer the noise to be fair, after listening to Davey Fitz ranting in an empty stadium every five minutes I'd welcome subtitles and silence.
