With all the talk of different tiers and competition formats, people have forgotten one thing I fear. Any changes to the football or hurling championships are likely to flounder without a proper fixtures calendar in place first, to ensure parity and fairness between the inter-county and club games.
With this in mind, I note the GAA have set up a fixtures task force, and should be commended for this move.
Also, they are currently providing a survey to get the thoughts and views of as wide a spectrum of GAA members and fans alike.

GAA needs to downsize, especially in Gaelic football. Average attendance is now 4-6K for most matches. Yet they hold the matches in 20K capacity stadia. Average attendance at hurling is approx 7K so they need to look at this also.
