Fermanagh GAA has failed in a request for their crucial Allianz FL Division 2 clash against Clare to be postponed following a meeting of the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) tonight.

The Erne County sought the postponement of Sunday's fixture on the grounds of player welfare after a recent Covid-19 outbreak in Ryan McMenamin's squad, resulting in 10 members testing positive and in turn a further seven having to self-isolate, with some of those affected only permitted to return to action on Saturday.

The Fermanagh county board has yet to respond to the decision by the CCCC but reports suggest that U20 players could be asked to make up the match-day squad for the trip to Ennis.

Fermanagh are currently bottom of the table and badly need to win their remaining two matches against the Banner County and Laois to give themselves every chance of staying up and competing in the All-Ireland SFC for 2021.
