Declan Bonner is seeking a fifth year in charge of Donegal’s senior footballers.

Bonner was appointed in the autumn of 2017 for his second stint as Donegal manager and led the Tir Chonaill County to back-to-back Ulster SFC titles in 2018 and 2019.

Having lost last year’s Ulster final to Cavan, Bonner’s men retained their Division 1 status before losing out in the provincial championship to its eventual winners Tyrone by 0-23 to 1-14 in Enniskillen.

Last night, Bonner presented his annual report to the Donegal county board and, with the below statement, the board has confirmed that the senior manager’s job is open to other candidates until 5pm this Sunday, August 29th.

“Declan Bonner, Donegal’s senior team manager for the last five years, presented his report to County Committee at their virtual meeting tonight, Wednesday, August 25th,” the statement read.

“He also advised he was putting his name forward to seek a new term and continue in his role as Donegal Senior Team Manager.

“The position is also now open to others to apply and clubs have until 5.00 pm on Sunday August 29th to advise the County Executive about any candidate they wish to propose.”
