Second-half goals from Conor Owens and captain Cormac Devlin helped Tyrone to a first Ulster MFC title in nine years at Brewster Park.

Having waltzed their way into this evening's showpiece with comfortable victories over Down and Fermanagh, the Red Hands showed battling qualities to carve out a 2-11 to 1-7 victory over Donegal.

The winners were dealt a major blow midway through the second-half when Ruairi McHugh was black carded, however, with the influential midfielder in the sin-bin, Owens and Devlin bagged goals in a devastating five-minute spell as they finished the stronger.

That left Tyrone clear by nine points and cruising towards a 24th provincial minor crown but Luke Barrett's side weren't going to go down without a fight as substitute Karl Joseph Molloy hit back with a goal before Owens and Devlin popped up again with the last two points.

Leading 0-7 to 0-3 at half-time, Gerard Donnelly's charges looked nervous in the early stages, kicking a flurry of wides, before eventually getting to grips with their opponents who had to wait until the 14th minute for their opening score from Kevin McCormack.

Next up for the Red Hands is an All-Ireland semi-final against Cork tomorrow week while Meath and Sligo meet on the other side of the draw.
