Hurling
The Adult Hurling AGM will take place in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh on Friday at 8pm. All interested in adult hurling in the club are invited to attend this meeting to look back on a successful 2019 and to plan ahead for hopefully what will be a busy 2020 for senior hurling.
A small but enthusiastic crowd attended the Juvenile Hurling AGM last Thursday. It commenced with a review of a successful year for underage hurling in the club which saw county titles secured at under 12, under 14, under 16 and minor. After that review, plans were put in place for 2020. The following officers were appointed for next year. Chairman, John Rooney; Vice Chairman, John Larkin; Secretary, Orla Bannon; Assistant Secretary, John McCadden; Lotto Secretary, Teresa Davis; Lotto Assistant, Lorraine Duffy. Management teams remain to be confirmed for next year.
Ulster GAA are delivering coaching workshops focusing on the fundamentals of underage hurling. This is the perfect chance for parents, guardians and new comers to learn the basics of hurling as well as a refresher for all youth coaches. One of these workshops will be run locally, at Creevy National School on Tuesday 10th December at 7pm.
The annual Juvenile Hurling Fun Christmas Quiz will take place in Owen Roe's on Thursday 19th December.
Football
The club is seeking expressions of interest for the post of reserve team manager. Anyone interested in taking up the position is asked to contact secretary Lisa McTernan at [email protected].
Scór na nÓg
The Scór na nÓg semi-final took place in Glenfin last Friday and Aodh Ruadh were represented in two events – solo singing and the quiz. Sean Maguire made his Scór debut in the solo singing event and sang a beautiful rendition of the song Grace, but unfortunately didn’t make it through to the county final. However at the young age of 11 he has many years left at this level. The quiz team of Beth Flood, Laoise Kelly, Emily McHugh and Clodagh O'Connor put in a very strong performance, coming second to a Naomh Columba side which came fourth in the All-Ireland final last year. In previous years this result would have been enough to qualify for the county final, but due to a change in the rules only one team qualified. A special mention to Laoise Kelly who was performing in her final Scór na nÓg quiz as she will be overage next year. The club thanks her for her great commitment and work rate over the last four years.
Schools Coach
The club still has an outstanding vacancy for a schools coaching post. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking to get into coaching who fulfils Community Employment Scheme eligibility criteria. Aodh Ruadh has had a number of coaches on this scheme in recent years and all have gone on to secure employment in coaching. Contact Tom Daly if interested.

Our Park / Development Committee has already secured €100,000 in grant aid towards the project costs and the draw is a critical part of providing matching funding. Any club member can provide tickets or contact anyone of the Draw Committee of Tom Daly, William Doogan, Conal Gallagher, Gerard Ferguson, Paul Gillespie, David McLoone, Sarah Daly, Philip McLoone and Michael Daly.
