Juicy, I was never of the opinion that Barney was disliked. Personally I think that Dempsey should have been left there for another year but Barney won democratically. Would favour Dempsey going back in but not because I dislike Barney. The real Árd Rí (Meath) - Posts: 990 - 12/11/2008 17:17:08 139856 Link 0 |

I think if it took us that long to get a replacement we really need to look at the CB now and elect a new one of those ... wouldn't you think. PrinceKev (Tyrone) - Posts: 62 - 12/11/2008 21:46:53 140060 Link 0 |

Lads as i said before and il say again,it doesnt make much diference who is put in charge because the same group of players will stil be picked.these players will stil have the same attitude as the past few years, just happy to be on the meath panel.no disrespect to them,i know they train hard and all,but they lust dont have the drive thats needed.most would have considered eamonn barry and colm coyle good managers,i know coyle was the messiah after meath got to the semi against cork.so what was the story against cork in that semi?and what happened this year against wexford and limerick?is the manager to be blamed for these defeats?surely coyle wasnt responsible for losing that huge lead against wexford?it all comes back to the players determination in games like this.the manager wasnt on the pitch for this turnaround,he had done as much as he could.i think we have gone "meath manager-mad" in this past while, when about 5% of what matters is who the manager is.sean boylan, eamonn barry, colm coyle, eamonn o'brien...it doesnt make a difference who is in charge,it is down to the psyche of the players.am i being negative,or am i being realistic? enda.muldoon (Derry) - Posts: 318 - 13/11/2008 11:30:11 140331 Link 0 |

I wish O'Brien the very best of luck and obviously i hope he does very well but i hope nobody starts to get their expectations up just because we FINALLY have a new manager, don't forget we're essentially starting from scratch here with a couple of decent players. We still don't have any replacements for players like McDermott, Giles, Geraghty, Fay ect and until we do then All-Irelands are out of the question so lets just wait and see what happens. well to be honest.. a win over Dublin would keep me happy for 2009...we aint got the power or skill to match Tyrone or Kerry.. but then again, who do? maco (Meath) - Posts: 357 - 14/11/2008 08:37:23 141176 Link 0 |

Lets stop all the bull and be Meath supporters for once! Eamonn has the job now and I for one am 100% behind him. He needs all our support not people talking about his abilities from day one. I love Meath football and just hope he brings us back to where we were. The Big Horse (Meath) - Posts: 28 - 15/11/2008 22:11:09 142204 Link 0 |

Don't know what point your trying to make there The Big Horse, we are all behind him 100% and obviously we all what him to do well because its good for us to. But along with optimism you have to mix in a sense of realism, that being that this meath team doesn't currently shape up to the meath teams of old or more importantly it doesn't shape up to current powers like Tyrone or Kerry, thats all people are really trying to say.
