Senior Championship - Cavan Club Football

I agree with your point about the long layoff begby. Two of the quater finals should be played as a double header a week earlier so gaels should be playing next weekend. Both teams are ready to go so let them play. Only Kingscourt have to wait on the qualifier so they should be last quater final and so on. I still think the qualifier teams will have a bearing on the championship. OK none of them will win it but could definately make a possible semi or even final.

In fairness scooby ramor were impressive but lackens lack of creativity in the forward line was a major reason for your win. Ramor have three good forwards in mcnamme, cole and a.reilly. they seemed to die down a bit in the second half, lacken had just as much possesion but ramor just used it better. Dont get carried away, lacken beat belturbet well and got ahead of themselves and it was only the semi final of the qualifiers you won. not the all-ireland semi final.

Have to say well done to castlerahan they were the better team last night much more fitter than Ballinagh was impressed by flanagan and sean brady, ballinagh did ok in the 1st half but missed way to many scores in the 2nd mackey won a lot of pocession for them they got it right tactically one worrying factor for them is the amount of scores mackey missed. Ballinagh can now just look forward to next year.

Well done to Castlerahan last night. Were well deserved of their victory. I just feel Ballinagh never got going this year, seems to be a kinda second year syndrome, plus everthing else didnt help. Pity cos they have some excellent players and showed sparks of good play but not enough. Was impressed with Castlerahan, the county players make them tick with all three on song last night. They are better on paper than Ramor but this means nothing in a local derby. Can see Castlerahan winnin by two after extra time. The winner of this will beat Kingscourt.

Ballinagh were extremely poor yesterday. Castlerahan won the game only really playing football in the 2nd half.

Ballinagh's two biggest problem were 1) the fact that their forwards completely lacked any kind of organisation or structure and 2) they weren't winning any balls in midfield (clean or breaks).

Plan A was to hit long high balls into Gaynor at full forward. It was clear this wasn't working but they persisted. Gaynor barely even ran for the ball - most of the time he stood there with his hand in the air and when he lost the ball or didnt get it - he shouted and roared at the ref. Some things just don't change.... Gaynor was a shadow of the player he once was yesterday.

The ballinagh backs played well and moved the ball well up to the midfield area but then they hit a bottle-neck - for two reasons - 1) noone inside showing for the ball and 2) the wing forwards and corner forwards coming out and crowding castlerahen's 45m area and midfield area. It was like watching an U-14s game - everyone running to the man with the ball.

As for midfield, you know things are bad when Ronan Flannagan, one of the smallest men on the pitch is catching balls clean.

I feel sorry for Ballinagh - I know they have the talent to compete at the highest level in Cavan, I've seen them play great football in the past but yesterday, Ballinagh played (and were managed) like a Junior team. Back to the drawing board lads...

My money's on Ramor to qualify.

cavan gaels played dromore the tyrone champions at the weekend in a challenge game in dromore very impressed was the watching mullahoran manager pascal canavan with the level of commitment showed by a young and very fit cavan gael side who showed some lovely movements which led to some very good scores and now doubt he will have taken note of this for the match coming up would fancy the gaels to come out on top and perhaps give ulster a run on the performance they produced on sunday

Welcome to the real world Ballinagh. You don't win Senior Championships by filling in coupons in the Celt

There we go again lads navscan and begby having a go at Ballinagh goes to show how pathetic and sad some people r on this site, how does it feel to b back at school boys!!
Ballinagh r delighted their not back playing intermediate next year don't think anyone said ballinagh were ever going to win this years senior championship, they were grateful to b competing in it. Im sure they will b back next year and I have feeling it could b an outsider for the championship this year after all there's not a lot between the teams left!!

FYI Murrayham i have never run down other clubs im on here to discuss GAA and stick up for my club i dont mind a bit of banter or slagging thats fine but begbys post is just a clear swipe a Ballinagh very childish and there's no need for it here and im sure most eductated normal people would agree.
What exactly do u mean ballinagh shouldn't b let near the championship I have spoke to several GAA enthuasists about this situation and all of them said no one should stop footballers from playing football its just not good for the game wotever about punishing clubs for bad bahaviour, It wouldn't happen in any other county in Ireland only Cavan as I feel the cavan county are not near as professional as others in the country thus why Cavan never go anywhere, don't get me wrong what happened in the killygarry match was wrong and should never happen again but i feel that players should not be punished for fans behaviour.
If u where ever at a soccer match in the UK u would see the abuse players and officials get its scary.

lube so your gonna start comparing gaa with soccer now are ya!! get a grip will ya!!
i dont hear any club the length and breath of the country that cause serious harm to officals and get arrested also and it has happened in soccer matches across the water and further afield and teams have been punished by been thrown outta competitions and deducted points so dont get me started!! suppose begby was a bit childish!! :)
