Stop Eddie and Mullahoran will be bet, worth remembering they beat the Gaels in that final two years ago with 14 men and it was Ediie that was sent off. To me they are the main challenger to the Gaels, when was the last time Gowna bet the Gaels in the Championship, if Mullahoran can stay clear of Gowna they will be there again with the Gaels. sticky (Cavan) - Posts: 9 - 24/07/2008 12:55:06 55752 Link 0 |

To cavanfa111, I don't know what Mullahoran team you have seen lately, everything on the team does not go through Eddie, we won the county in 2006 with him sent off. Fair enough to Eddie, he takes right footed free-kicks and kicks a few from play, but a lot of scores come through Danny and Phillip Brady with a lot of other players adding a few scores throughout a game. And with Paul Brady back playing we have a lot of options. If Belturbet are to beat Mullahoran they will have to beat Christy Sheilds in the middle of the field, and that ain't an easy task. Mullahoran are a great championship team, they are always crap for the league but they kick up a gear when the championship starts. Expect them to be still in the mix come the end of September, never write-off the Dreadnoughts.... Loughduff Lad (Cavan) - Posts: 2487 - 24/07/2008 17:40:32 56189 Link 0 |

to loughduff lad - that midfielder you are talking about for the dreadnoughts in my opinion is not fit for their junior team he was finished 4 years ago! cavanfa111 (Cavan) - Posts: 14 - 25/07/2008 09:25:34 56435 Link 0 |

I heard that Crosserlough should have won the game. A few soft frres given in the end. Anyway looks like Ollie Murphy is doing a good job. Anyone know who played well for both teams. Thanks! oneforthefuture (Cavan) - Posts: 24 - 25/07/2008 10:59:41 56538 Link 0 |

To cavanfa111, Christy Sheilds is one of the most consistent midfielders in the county. Only for the fact that he was in Australia a few years back, he would have been a dead cert for inter-county football. He may not be as fast as he was a few years ago or cover as much ground, but he is still as hard as nails and still wins a fair percentage of balls. He does the main donkey work in the middle of the park, and with the likes of Paul the Gunner and Thomas Nannery doing the running off him, he still has a lot of football left in him. If he wasn't up to the standard then he wouldn't be in the team, simple as. A lot of players and people in Cavan have a lot of respect for him and it is justified. A lot of so called tough men of Cavan football (not naming names) hate coming up against him. Loughduff Lad (Cavan) - Posts: 2487 - 25/07/2008 11:06:41 56546 Link 0 |

Yeah I'm definitely biased, never would deny it. But for this guy to say that Sheilds should not even play Junior football and that he was finished 4 years ago is unbelievable, he had a massive hand in us winning the championship in 2006. Every man is allowed a little bit of bias in terms of their favourite players, but I could also tell you about some of the players in our team who I think should never be let see a football again, there are more than you would think a Mullahoran man would admit. Its the same in every parish team. But when a decent player, who has given many hard years to football, is accused of being less than a junior player, when still playing at a high standard, then that is not good enough for me, I will always defend him.... Last ten years, let me see. How about six senior county finals, with two championship wins along with two U-21 championships. Can you trump that??? Only for some unfortunate circumstances in the three final losses in a row, we could have won another one or two. Example - In 2004 I think, someone thought that Phillip Galligan was not in the game and not playing well. Cue a sub coming on for him and not two minutes later Micky Graham had the ball in the net, Gaels on to win obviously. A selector didn't notice Graham didn't have a sniff of the ball all game before this. Loughduff Lad (Cavan) - Posts: 2487 - 25/07/2008 13:00:43 56744 Link 0 |
