Mullahoran drew with Lisbellaw yesterday in the Ulster Junior Hurling championship in Ballybay. Final score Mullahotan 0-11 Lisbellaw 1-08. Mullahoran played well within themselves, if they improve they should win the replay. Replay is down for Sunday 19th October with the time and venue to be confirmed. Also congrats to Andrew Nelligan and Anthony Sheridan who have been selected for the Ireland U-21 shinty team. They are due to play their first match on Saturday. Its a great achievement for the guys to be representing their country.

The dreadnoughts lost last sunday to lisbellaw by 3 pts. didnt play well enough to win but still out scored them from play 5-2, frees were the real killer for us. dont think they will have a chance against setanta of donegal in the final as they played in a higher division than both of us this year. we will be back next year waiting in the long grass for the fermanagh boys.

message to joust

if you dont like cavan hurling then dont comment on it. but going by your other comments you dont know much about any sport, so stay out of our business. we are a small but dedicated group of hurling supporters in cavan.

John Hunt has been appointed the new Cavan senior Hurling manager for 09. His selectors will be Michael Wall (Cavan Gaels) and Eamonn Dalton (Mullahoran). Ciaran McDonagh from Athboy in Meath will act as fitness coach. These guys are a serious catch for Cavan Hurling and shows that work that has been done by the players is being rewarded by the appointment of high profile management for the first time. A good run in the League followed by an extended run in the new Lory Meagher Cup in the summer will help to raise the profile of the game both within and outside the county.

A huge congrats to Kevin Downes (Cavan Gaels) who won the London Senior Hurling Championship last weekend. Kevin ended up winning man of the match in the final which just goes to show you that there is lots of good hurlers in Cavan. They know play the Ulster champions in the All-Ireland Quarter Final in January. A fabtastic achievement considering Kevin had one the London Senior Football championship the week before, dual stars are alive and well.

well done kevin downes. it goes to show that there is good hurlers in cavan, now we just need a few more to step up and show that they are just as good as kevin. again well done kevin from all in mullahoran.

i see lisbellaw hammered setanta of donegal in the ulster junior hurling final. lisbellaw only beat us in the semi by 3 pts after a replay. we are not that far away from a possible ulster title. well done law.

hurling news

the senior hurlers played their first game of the year last wed nite against longford in mullahoran. very good game played in bad conditions which we won 4-11 to 1-18. those that played well were anthony sheridan, daithi neary, barry ryan, paul sheridan, mark mcentee, eugene hill, and newcomer adrian mcmanus. next up is leitrim next sunday in ballyconnell at 12. these games are important to get us ready to do battle with our neighbours fermanagh in the first game of the league on feb 8 also in ballyconnell.

cavan were very bad on the day. monaghan were a lot better in every department. they should walk this division. strong throughout the team but will miss the two boys that were sent off late on. they both deserved to walk no matter what the crowd taught. inniskeen is some set-up. credit to the club and its committee.

An outstanding display by the Cavan hurlers against South Down. Adrian McManus scored 1-11 while the defense was fantastic in only conceding one point in the second half. Neary, Lafferty and Nelligan had the measure of the Down fullforward line, Phil Brady gave an energetic performance in midfield well supported by Paul Sheridan while the livewire Sean Og Brady caused all sorts of problems for Down with his pace. A solid performance which needs to be built upon next weekend against Fermanagh in Ballyconnell.
