(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

What will Thomas Carrs starting fifteen be next time out.
Will he make many changes .
In view of the fact that some new talent has emerged who should he give a run out too, an d in what position.

We all would agree that James Reilly who had been discovered by a former Cavan Senior manager is the best Goalkeeper

My Team would be
1.James Reilly
2.BRIDES
3.CUNNINGHAM
4.PAURIC REILLY
5.FLANAGAN
6.SEAN BRADY
7.CHESTY
8.MCCABE
9.ANYBODY BUT CIARAN GALLIGAN , PROBABLY MCKEEVER
10.MARTIN REILLY
11.LYNG
12.CULLIVAN
13.JONHSTON
14.WALSH
15.PIERSON

SOME PLAYERS OUT OF POSITION , BUT WE NEED A BIG STORNG FULL BACK AND CENTRE BACK, AND WITH THE WING BACKS WE WOULD HAVE PLENTY OF SUPPORT GOING FORWARD , AND 2 GOOD DEFENSIVE MEN , IF mIDFIELD IS NOT WORKING WE COULD SWITCH MCCABE AND WALSH , THE FORWARDS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.
THE FULL BACK LINE IS THE WEAK LINK BUT IT ALWAYS HAS BEING IN CAVAN

1- James Reilly:Best keeper in the province if not the country.
2-Michael Brides: Fit,fast and is a great reader of the game.
3-Nicholas Walsh:This will raise a few eyebrows but hes big and strong.no other option im afraid.
4-Eamonn Reilly:Warrior,tough tackling and inspirational.
5-Ronan Flanagan:Has all round natural ability,Can attack and defend and get in amongst the breaks.
6-Mark Mc Keever:In my opinion his most natural position-stuck in the middle of the action driving players on.
7-Paul Brady:Strength, speed and is super fit.Like flanagan can attack and defend as well as get in for breaks.
8-Cieran Galligan:This lad has potential if patience allows.Big,Strong, aggresive and can catch a ball cleanly.
9-Dermott Mc Cabe:We still need him im afraid,if only to be a presence around the middle.
10-Eugene Keating:Great potential, strength, height and aggression. Can also get in amongst the breaking ball.
11-Michael Lyng:Serious reader of a game.the '40' is the only position for him bringing other forwards into play.
12-Ray Cullivan:Not fit enough but never really has been but can really help the midfielders around the middle.
13-Sean Johnstone:What else can i say that hasnt already been said about the lad.Match winner on his day.
14-Gerald Pierson:Exciting to have him back,Natural shooting ability.
15-Cian Mackey:the live wire of the full forward line. Can draw fouls for frees all day.natural scorer also.

Cavan need to:
1:Tighten up in the full back line,in my opinion this full back line can do this as it has all the attributes needed-height,strength and good readers of the game who can tackle.

2:Big players(physically) to form the back bone of the team.Walsh,Mc Keever,Galligan,Mc Cabe,Lyng and Pierson can all do this.

3:To start getting in amongst the breaking ball. This has 'killed' Cavan over the last couple of years, big men are needed in both the half back and half forward line especially on the wings to get in amongst the breaking ball.

and finally:

4:AGGRESSION.

Why isnt rabbitt in the fray at all for full back lads?

cavan need commitment, more passion and an overall desire to reach potential!

Mystic Meg, we certainly need height, strength and aggression as we have been lacking in these departments for years as the C/ship game against Armagh proved. I see nothing wrong in experimenting and would like to see your team given a chance as it could do no worse than what we have seen in the last few years. Fitness is another important factor as we seem to drop our levels in the latter stages of games.

Re: mystic meg

You have to be joking with your team selection

1- James Reilly:Best keeper in the province if not the country.(Doesn't vary his kickouts)
2-Michael Brides: Fit,fast and is a great reader of the game.(not that fast, and got too many roastings for my liking)
3-Nicholas Walsh:This will raise a few eyebrows but hes big and strong.no other option im afraid.(better of in full forward)
4-Eamonn Reilly:Warrior, tough tackling and inspirational.(better in half back for attacking)
5-Ronan Flanagan:Has all round natural ability,Can attack and defend and get in amongst the breaks.(ok)
6-Mark Mc Keever:In my opinion his most natural position-stuck in the middle of the action driving players on.(too small for centre half but possibly good option on the wing)
7-Paul Brady:Strength, speed and is super fit.Like flanagan can attack and defend as well as get in for breaks.(better of half forward to get breaks)
8-Cieran Galligan:This lad has potential if patience allows.Big,Strong, aggresive and can catch a ball cleanly.(No!!)
9-Dermott Mc Cabe:We still need him im afraid,if only to be a presence around the middle.(who will turn him for the second half)
10-Eugene Keating:Great potential, strength, height and aggression. Can also get in amongst the breaking ball.(who are you anyway. No one even heard of you)
11-Michael Lyng:Serious reader of a game.the '40' is the only position for him bringing other forwards into play. (agree)
12-Ray Cullivan:Not fit enough but never really has been but can really help the midfielders around the middle.(possibly)
13-Sean Johnstone:What else can i say that hasnt already been said about the lad.Match winner on his day.(agree)
14-Gerald Pierson:Exciting to have him back,Natural shooting ability.(hopefully)
15-Cian Mackey:the live wire of the full forward line. Can draw fouls for frees all day.natural scorer also.(No!!)

eyeball what are you on that actualy could be cavans best team with the exception of walsh at full back. you said no to keating galligan and mackey. keating is big and very skillful huge potential, galligan is also big and can catch a ball and we need that, mackey was one of cavans best half forwards in the champ last year and that is where i would play him not in the corner.

Eyeball, what is noticeable from your post criticising my team selection is that the only players you agreed on are the players from cavan gaels. Why's this?

Well eyeball i have to agree with some of your options as for this post above, how can anybody say Galligan deserves a p;ace on the couny team , i think he should be nowhere near the panel , not alone the starting team , i cant understand how so many managers stick with Paul Brady year in year out , dont think he is a good footballer , fair enough he is fit and fast but you also need to be able to play football to be any good

Everyone is taking the exact same view on Galligan that was taken by so many people on McDonald last year!McDonald was called up last year and people started putting him in their teams and the exact same is happening with Galligan!
